The boything and I caught up with friends for yum cha today, a good excuse to sit around and eat delicious things!
If you’ve never had yum cha before, here’s a quick low down: you sit down and servers come around with trolleys laden with delicious food. If you want whatever tasty treat they’re offering, you let them know and they place it on your table. There is a little card on your table where they note down what dishes you’ve received and at the end of the meal you pay by however many of each kind of dish you’ve eaten.
Divided between your table, it’s a cheap and fun way to eat (ours worked out to be a little over $14 per person) that allows you to try a little of everything (while drinking gallons of Chinese tea). I had my definite favourites including deep fried squid, steamed greens (surely I can’t be the only one who loves vegetables?!) and pineapple buns (a sweet bread roll filled with pineapple coconut custard). I’m actually drooling a little bit just thinking about it!
For those of you who wanted to see a little more the Chubby Cartwheels crop top that I featured in my Aussie Curves post this week, here you go! Being winter, it’s not nearly warm enough to bare my belly, so I’m rocking the crop with a singlet/vest/tank top (what do you call it where you’re from? I say singlet but apparently that confuses some people?) underneath.
What did you get up to this weekend? Have you ever been to yum cha?

Yum Cha is amazing right! I’m going next weekend with friends – to Pearl Garden, very nice. Yep those custard buns are amazing!
Love that colour on you. x
I haven’t been to Pearl Garden in years (although never for their yum cha)! Now that I’ve tried yum cha deliciousness I might have to go there though – you’re the second person to mention it to me! xo
Fab colour on you!
I like to use the term “cami”[sole] for singlets under things. I still totally understand what you mean by singlet though– I didn’t realise there was a cause for confusion!
Thanks lady! When I think cami I think of something satiny with lace on it – perhaps I must have had one of those when I was younger? #meagansweirdramblings
