As soon as my latest purchase from Yours Clothing arrived, I’ve been waiting for the weather to get warm enough (anywhere over freezing is fine!) for me to wear it. This maxi dress has been on my lust list for so long and I can’t wait for summer to arrive so I can wear it all the time (because let’s be honest, maxi dresses and temperatures below 10ºC really don’t go together). For a brief moment though, I thought I’d channel my inner witchy woman, inspired by Misty Day from American Horror Story and Stevie Nicks.
My love of head to toe black is no secret, I wear it regularly and black is one of my favourite colours (especially paired with other neutrals). So it’s probably no surprise that as soon as I got this maxi dress, my first thought was to grab my Harlow kimono and vintage felt hat to channel those witchy vibes.
I really like the way that Stevie Nicks and American Horror Story’s character Misty Day (one of my favourite characters on the show, played by Lily Rabe) wear long flowing layers that still highlight their curves – it’s a very different way of layering than I grew up with, when the purpose was to hide your figure. They’ve really inspired me to experiment with the way I layer clothes (I’m talking about for fashion, not for warmth like I do in winter – hello 6 layers and -2ºC!), so stay tuned!

Love the outfit!. I regularly wear maxi dresses during the winter, throw some leggings and knee high boots that don’t even show and it’s good to go.
That’s a good idea! I love maxi dresses, really need to wear them more in winter
Your outfit looks amazing. And PS your eyelashes still look phenomenal 😀
Thanks! I’m not sure how long the lash curl lasts, I think 4-6 weeks? So many days of lovely looking lashes!
You look fantastic! I love the hat too. It’s definitely a nice touch to the outfit! xx
Thanks Analesha, I rescued it from my mom’s closet many years ago (aka stole it). I love it so much!
Love the hat!
Thanks Em! xo
I love this look Meagan. You look beautiful in the photos you took and I LOVE that lippy shade. Such a great look and I love finding things that you feel amazing in!
Thanks Melissa! I think the more I wear dark colours the more confident I feel experimenting with lip colour! xo
I love this outfit! Witchy style is perfect. <3
Thanks Leah!
Meagan, you look gorgeous!!! I love black on black, hassle free and easy to colour up or down. Your kimono is a knockout.
When it comes to style….I have none. I have a wardrobe full of vintage and contemporary pieces. I mix and match high end fashion labels with run of the mill Target items and a vast selection of denim. Boots or heels on the feet and a circle of bling around my wrist and I am ready to go. I keep one pair of high heels and a pair of boots in my car at all times in the event of needing to dress up a pair of jeans. Right now those boots are my red snakeskin hand made boots and a pair of gorgeous pink snakeskin pointy toes with a killer stiletto heel. I also keep a pair of runners in the car as well. Just in case. There is also a selection of wrist bling, sports socks and trouser socks in black and skintone in the centre console.
Being a horsie chick I live in denim when not on the back of a horse or at work. Hair is pony tail friendly and I have a variety of fake flower pieces to dress the hair up when needed. Four different lipsticks in the handbag and always some lightly tinted sunscreen. That is it for makeup.
I am pretty low maintenance.
Your style sounds so perfect! I love the mix of high and low end (I think it’s the most sensible way to dress), and it seems like your car has everything you need to change up your look in a flash – the perfect modern gal’s answer to Superman’s telephone booth! xo
