If you’re a parent to be, congratulations! I’ve had a number of people asking me where to find plus size maternity wear in New Zealand, so I took up the challenge and scouted out some places with stylish clothes (both in New Zealand and overseas) so you can keep being your fabulous stylish self as your wee one grows and your body changes. I’ve found some great clothes in sizes 8-34 – everything from tees and jeans to activewear and swimwear!
Plus Maternity
Designed in Australia by Nadine, a woman who understands the requirements of a plus sized mum to be, Plus Maternity comes in sizes 18-28. You can tell that she’s had that personal experience because she’s thought of everything – there’s not just tops and pants, there’s also pyjamas (essential!) and swimwear. A relief to people who are plus size and pregnant over summer, I’m sure!
Pink Blush Maternity
If I was pregnant I think I’d have to do a lot of shopping at Pink Blush because their style really fits with mine! I have found so many things I like there, so hopefully you will too. They go up to a US 3XL (NZ 22-24), happy shopping!
Motherhood Maternity
If you’re looking for great maternity clothes for everyday, Motherhood Maternity goes up to a US 3XL (NZ 24) and has a massive selection. Tops, pants, jeans, shorts, skirts, activewear, swimwear, dresses, lingerie … this place is a plus size pregnant woman’s mecca! Bonus points for maternity hoodies – just what you need in winter!
Stella Maternity
Stella Maternity has clothes up to US 3XL (NZ 24) including nursing friendly tops and dresses and labour/delivery gowns that are cute and comfortable – no scratchy hospital gowns here!
ASOS Maternity
ASOS’s maternity line caters to the smaller side of plus (they go up to size 20), so if you’re an inbetweenie mama to be, their maternity clothes really embrace what I know and love about ASOS. They are fashionable, with beautiful pieces for everyday and more formal occasions. I’d love to see this range extended to include an ASOS Curve Maternity line!
Blooming Beautiful Maternity
This is a New Zealand company (based on Auckland’s North Shore) that sells pre-loved and factory line maternity wear from a size 8 up to a size 22. You can also hire designer dresses, so if you’ve got a special function on, that’s a great option to have. I know how nice it is to be able to go in and try things on to see how they fit before you buy them, so hurray for having something like this in New Zealand!
Lane and Sage
Looking for plus size maternity activewear? Lane and Sage have activewear for pregnancy and postpartum, in size 6-26.
Old Navy
Old Navy is another place with a really great selection – I was having a look through their range yesterday and found so many things I would love to wear! Old Navy’s sizing goes up to a US 28-30 or 4XL (NZ 32-34), so fingers crossed that y’all can find something you like there too!
Rebellious Rose Curve
This New Zealand brand has clothes suitable for pregnancy, breastfeeding and beyond, in sizes 14-24.
Yours Clothing
A really good selection of fashionable options including swimwear, casual and dressy clothing in size 14-32.

I’m not new at all to maternity clothes (I’m pregnant with #5) but I can’t find anything! Everyone wants you to order online which sounds convenient but I’d rather walk into a shop and make sure I actually look good and the clothes fit than wait for weeks and find out they don’t…
Farmers had 2 racks! That’s all!!… and then I was pointed in the direction of the plus size section which would be great if my ass and thighs were going to balloon alongside my belly!
I spent a whole afternoon trying to find maternity clothes, even online it seemed to feel like the world was against me… needless to say I cried.
It’s now 2 weeks later, officially unable to do up my pre-pregnancy jeans but sucking it in while I’m out because I have no choice and dreading another trip to a different mall.
I just want a shop, in Auckland, with semi decent items of a normal price. If skinny people can have that why not my size 22 ass!?
Hey Bella, you are SO not alone in those thoughts! I get so many plus size women asking about maternity clothes and it feels like the fashion industry here has just assumed that plus size women don’t get pregnant or something?! There definitely need to be more options and telling us to wear leggings and tunics is so not on.
The only brand I know for sure that goes up to a 22 and does maternity and has NZ stores is Crossroads (I’ve linked them above). They are only stocked at certain stores so unless you’re near one you can’t just walk in and buy something BUT you can get things sent to a store near you and try things that way? Not a perfect solution but I hope it helps!
Thank you Meagen for yet another excellent post (although I always expect nothing short of outstanding from you!) Recently I designed an infographic about plus-size maternity fashion tips, would you mind taking look at it and give your expert opinion? That would help me so much!
I know things get busy when you’re a popular blogger, so no pressure 🙂
Hi Alice, thanks so much! I think your infographic is great – I especially agree with the underwear one! x
WOW, I wish I had known about Motherhood Maternity a while ago – hoodies AND exercise leggings – I’ve always said that I would love a maternity hoodie!!! (I’ve only got around 4 weeks to go, so there’s not much point in buying any new clothes now, but what a great resource! Thanks for putting this together!!)
Not long to go now! xo
Thank you so much for show casing Plus Maternity so great to see us out there for mums to be to find. 🙂
Thanks for making great clothes for plus size mamas, Nadine! xo
Thanks so much for the love and this great resource Megan!
Thank you Jen! Dan from Blogging Concentrated recommended you to me and I’m loving your site – such a wealth of knowledge! xo
