There are a lot of options when it comes to dressing up for Halloween. Will you dress as something scary? As your favourite character? Perhaps an outfit inspired by something ghoulish? Maybe just wear clothes that are a little bit spooky? Whatever you choose, here are a few places you can find plus size Halloween costumes, from the ready made to the spooky inspired.
boohoo
boohoo usually does pretty cool Halloween costumes, I’ve seen some great ones from them over the years. Some are very costumey, and other pieces are more spooky inspired. They also have some cool accessories to finish off your look. Sizes range from 4-28.

HalloweenCostumes.com
As you can probably tell by the name, HalloweenCostumes.com specialises in Halloween costumes so there is a lot to choose from. They have actual characters, spooky themes and more generic costumes that can fit with themes. Sizes range from XXS-8X and they do men’s and children’s Halloween costumes as well. If you’re looking for an outfit for any type of dress-up party, you can shop here year round – bonus!

ModCloth
I love ModCloth‘s clothes and have ordered a dress for a Halloween costume from them before (when I dressed up as Wednesday Addams). Their Halloween range is a good combination of everyday subtly spooky to loud and proud Halloween lover, and you better believe I am here for both of those things. Sizes range from 4-30.

My usual approach is to create a costume that combines things I already have with new pieces, because ya gal is on a budget! My easy go to costumes are witch (all in black, accessorise as much or as little as you want), homicidal maniac (they look like everybody else) and cat (wear black, add a headband with ears). Sometimes I also go for a spooky inspired look – I have a few pieces in my wardrobe that fit the bill (like the ouija board skirt I’m wearing above).
I’ve also hired costumes (or pieces for certain looks) from local costume hire shops – depending on where you are located, plus size options might vary. If anyone has a costume hire near them with a great range of plus size options (especially in larger plus sizes), please leave a comment below letting us know who they are and where you’re located! In Auckland, I can recommend First Scene.
Do you keep it subtle or go all out for Halloween?

Blatant self promotion thread here, but when I first put out the KRIS dress in peridot (green) I also ordered a pink bunny hat to go with it, so I could dress up as Louise from Bob’s Burgers. I gave away that hat to the woman who bought the last of those dresses in my size, but now I have the KRIS in emerald, or the DEMELZA in forest green, I could totally return to that idea.
I’m not super familiar with Bob’s Burgers so had to look that up but YES! Great costume idea!
