There seems to be a lot of assumption that plus size people aren’t or don’t want to be active. Obviously that’s not true – you can be active at any size doing a whole range of different things! One of the things I get asked about the most is where to buy plus size activewear, so I thought I’d put all this info in one handy spot. You might be hitting the gym, doing yoga, going to crossfit or walking your dog. Or maybe you’re running around after the kids, grabbing coffee with a friend or heck – even just sitting at home eating chips, cos a lot of us wear our workout gear when we’re just living our lives. No matter what you’re doing while you wear it, here’s where you can find activewear in plus sizes. UPDATED 21/02/22.
ASOS
ASOS is a great one stop shop – they carry loads of great brands including Nike Plus, Puma Plus and ASOS 4505 Curve. Styles include everything from activewear basics to swimwear to ski gear, and it’s a great place to pick up shoes as well. Sizes range from 2-30 and prices vary, but the ASOS 4505 range is on the lower end of the scale and ASOS has sales on a pretty regular basis.
Hine Collection
This Kiwi brand is so popular that they sell out really quickly every time they restock or release a new range. When I asked for your recommendations, so many of you said you loved Hine Collection! I bought a pair of their 7/8 leggings and really love them. They have sizes XS-6XL (8-26) and bigger sizes tend to go fast so if you spot something you like, snap it up!
Lane Bryant
The LIVI Active range at Lane Bryant is pretty extensive and includes everything from sports bras to basics to athleisure wear in US sizes 14-28 (NZ 18-32). They’ve also got a swim collection in US sizes 0-28 (NZ 4-32), including some sports swimwear.
Rainbeau Curves
I’ve been buying Rainbeau Curves gear for years now, they’re one of my favourite activewear brands. They have fun patterns, great colour options and a whole range of different styles, and come in sizes 1X-5X (US 14-32 / NZ 18-36).
Taking Shape*
I’m a longtime fan of Taking Shape and I was thrilled when they started doing activewear. Their collections are fairly small and a lot of pieces are online exclusives, so you need to be quick to grab the size and style you’re after. Available in XXS-XL (12-24) and sizing is on the generous side.
Torrid
I wear my Torrid activewear quite often – it’s comfortable and they have a really good selection available. I think they probably have one of the biggest ranges in terms of colour and style options, and I can always find something that catches my eye. They have sizes 00-6 (US 10-30 / NZ 14-34) and they have plus size swimwear options as well. Shipping outside the US can be quite pricey but they have regular sales (I regularly share those here so keep an eye out!).

I bought some active wear from The Warehouse and love it but can’t seem to find any more in the larger sizes 🙁
It’s usually more readily available via the website, a lot of stores don’t stock it which is a shame but hopefully they’ll have more options in spring!
What about My Siza
Hey Carol! If you’re referring to My Size, while they may have casual pieces that can be worn while being active, they don’t have any activewear listed on their website
