Last weekend I travelled down to Wellington (our country’s capital) for Wellington Fashion Week. I had an amazing journey and I wanted to share it with you… I took a lot of pictures so get comfortable!
I used to travel to Wellington all the time on business, but it’s been a long time since I had the pleasure of visiting. It’s been five years, and it turns out that my love for this city has not waned one bit.
I always choose to fly with Air New Zealand, because they never fail to provide exceptional service. Even though the weather was abysmal and my flight was delayed, the in-flight staff were friendly and welcoming, and I had a very pleasant journey.
I nabbed myself a bargain hotel-wise, booking a Mystery Deal with Wotif.com. I ended up staying at the James Cook Hotel Grand Chancellor, which was really really nice. If you’re planning a trip to Wellington, I’d recommend staying there!
I met up with some of Aussie Curves ladies that are based in Wellington, and we went to dinner at a place called Chow. It was delicious and I’m planning on going back there next time I’m in town!
Meeting these ladies was really exciting for me. It’s very rare that I get to meet other plus size bloggers who share my love of fashion, especially bloggers who I follow and have talked to online! You should check them out – you can find Ezmae over at Flashion Affair; Lisa at Lisa Likes Stuff; Jocelyn at Mama’s Style and Helen at The Evolution of H.
Day two of my adventure saw me down at Queens Wharf for The Carpenter’s Daughter’s show. I’ll tell you more about that in another post
I managed to reinjure my knee (this is why we should listen to our physios and not overdo it…) so after a long (but awesome) day hanging out with Lizy and Victoria, I headed back to my hotel for room service and a bubble bath. That’s right, I decided to forgo all partying and just relax!
On day three I found a giant shoe. Well, first I ate delicious brunch with my friend Anna, and then we found a giant shoe. I had to cancel most of the shoots I had planned because of my reinjured knee, but I managed to squeeze in a few shoots before the pain got too much for me. Keep an eye out for those coming up on the blog over the next few weeks!
So, that’s a brief rundown on my trip to Wellington for Wellington Fashion Week. Make sure you stick around to check out the latest shoots from my Fat Girls Shouldn’t Wear Stripes project and my thoughts and photos from The Carpenter’s Daughter show – they’ll be coming soon.
Have a great weekend!
