I just spent an amazing weekend in Wellington (which is the capital city of New Zealand, for all of my overseas readers who don’t know much about the country I live in), where I got to celebrate plus size fashion, meet some great new people, catch up with old friends, eat delicious food, attend Wellington Fashion Week and photograph some gorgeous women for my Fat Girls Shouldn’t Wear Stripes project. More about that later though – first I wanted to share this outfit with you because I am so in love with this skirt! View Post

I think an important part of the body positive journey is wearing clothes that make you feel fabulous – at least, it has been a very important part of my journey. I find it nearly impossible to feel bad about myself and my body if I am wearing a kick ass outfit, one that I love, that I feel good in and that I believe looks good on me.
My favourite style at the moment is retro inspired – tops and full swings skirts or dresses that nip in at the waist, all worn with layers of petticoats underneath. It is a style that I feel fantastic in, and thankfully there are a number of companies out there at the moment that are providing retro reproductions (designs inspired by true vintage but in modern fabrics and colours) in plus sizes. Trend Tip: Feeling Blue
Feeling blue with the change in weather? Whether you love navy, cyan or royal blue, there is a hue for everyone this season! Here are some of my fave picks for autumn…
I’m loving 17 Sundays’ shirt dresses right now! This comfortable yet chic style is a great way to ease your wardrobe in to the cooler months. View Post
Aussie Curves: Secondhand
This isn’t secondhand so much as it is “swiped out of my boyfriend’s closet”. I think it’s totally fair, since he’s raided all my band tees…
Trend Tip: Basic Black

I read a lot of articles when I was at uni about the wearing of black in Kiwi culture, including Doris De Pont’s Black: History of Black in Fashion, Society and Culture in New Zealand, which is well worth a read if you can get your hands on a copy. I’ve always loved wearing black, and as New Zealanders we wear a lot of it, so I thought I’d offer up some of my favourite basic black pieces for the upcoming autumn/winter season.
