Last week I popped over to High Society’s Auckland headquarters to meet the team (including amazing designer and fellow Gisborne gal Sheryl May) and check out the new season looks for Chocolat, their plus size range. You might have seen me wearing Chocolat before, but I think that this season’s collection “High Spirits” is better than ever so I thought I’d give you a wee peek at some of my favourites. These would definitely be investment pieces for me because they’re great quality high fashion pieces, and I know I’d get a lot of wear out of them. View Post

What is your favourite place to shop?
I love City Chic, they have such a great variety of styles, stunning evening dresses and fantastic jeans. I do buy dresses from “the internet”, but always with a sense of dread because sizing can vary so much between brands. I prefer to try clothes on before I commit to them! As a busy Mummy, I tend to buy my basic everyday items from Farmers and Kmart. View Post
Featured Designer: HALL NZ
I love discovering new designers doing plus sizes, even more when they’re from right here in New Zealand! HALL is designed and made in the Wairarapa using natural fibres, and simple, minimalist shapes with a strong aesthetic. HALL is strongly committed to locally produced high fashion and sustainable practises, and has gorgeous clothes for women who wear sizes 10-24. I really love their summer 2015 collection, so I thought I’d share a few of my faves with you! View Post
WIWT: DMONIC INTENT kaftan
I popped by NAKED Empire – The Style Syndicate last weekend, to check out what amazing things they had in stock. They stock stuff from DMONIC INTENT, SYRE, L.S.D. (Little Sister Designs) and Ahoy Cutie to name just a few, and while I was there I tried on a gorgeous “one size fits all” DMONIC INTENT kaftan. I didn’t expect it to fit me, because DMONIC INTENT is a straight size range that goes up to a 14 and I’m obviously much bigger than that, but when the girls urged me to try it on… well.
Where to buy plus size clothes
People are forever asking me where to find great plus size clothes. And as a woman who grew up in small town Aotearoa New Zealand I totally understand the struggle to find something that makes you look and feel fabulous, rather than a frumpy curtain crossed with a shapeless sack. I might be fat, but I love fashion! So, here you go: a directory of great places to shop for sizes 14+… View Post
