I first saw a Sloan dress on my friend Shonnei. When I clicked through to check out their instagram, I fell head over heels for the whimsical designs. Immediately, I knew I wanted a Sloan piece of my own – the designs are very different to anything else I own! Each piece is custom made so no matter what size you are, you can shop there. Woohoo! As someone who’s sized out of many so-called inclusive labels (hello, humans above a size 24 do exist!), that’s music to my ears. I’ve never ordered anything custom made before, so thought I’d share the journey with you. View Post
Firefly by Rachel Harrison
One day I got a message on my Facebook page from a woman named Rachel saying that her and her partner were starting up a New Zealand made plus size fashion label, and wondering if I’d be able to try on a size 26 sample to see how it fit. I’m always keen to support local designers as I’d love to see a wider range of options available in plus sizes, so of course I said yes. We met up for coffee and I tried on the shirt in question … and I didn’t want to take it off! View Post
First Look: Chocolat SS17
I always get really excited when Chocolat releases their lookbooks, because this New Zealand label has pieces that wow me season after season. You’ve seen me wearing pieces from them before (take a look here and here if you need a reminder) and loved them, so I thought I’d share a few of my favourite pieces from the latest collection – let me know what you’re loving! Travelling in style
As I’m sure you’re well aware, later this week I am going on my first ever solo trip overseas. While I’ve been making travel plans, I had a friend mention dress codes for flying, and it got me thinking about how we dress when we travel. View Post
Why you should invest in your wardrobe
Brought to you by Zebrano
Since spring cleaning my closet this year, I have tried to be more conscious of the things I’m adding in. Rather than spending small amounts of money often on things that will wear out quickly or will only last a season, I’m choosing things that will last a long time. Sometimes these things will cost a little bit more, and I need to save up for them – but trust me, the decision to invest in your wardrobe is one worth making. View Post
