Nike has put some plus size mannequins in one of their stores, and it’s making some people mad. This basically happens any time there is a positive story about fat people doing anything anywhere. Even when that fat person is a mannequin. Yep, you guessed it, I have a lot of feelings about this. Grab a drink and pull up a chair. View Post
My Active Body
When I look at the models in activewear ads, I never see bodies like mine. The fat, lumpy bodies with rolls and big thighs and tummies. My body is the kind of body that’s shown as a “before picture”, not as one that is active. Sometimes people with bodies like mine are photographed and made fun of, as I shared on my Facebook page recently, and quite a few people told me that things like this make them feel uncomfortable going to the gym or exercising in public. I don’t give a shit if you’re fat or thin, have wobbly bits or washboard abs, I think that everyone should have the right to exercise if they want to. View Post
Nike has launched a plus size range
One of the things people ask me about most often is activewear, so I’m forever on the lookout for new activewear options to share with you. Naturally, I was very excited to find out that Nike has expanded their range to include more plus sizes. I have been a fan of Nike shoes for a long time (I currently have two pairs on the go) and have straight size friends that swear by the quality of their Nike training gear, so to finally be able to get that quality gear in plus sizes is pretty exciting. Amongst the flowers
One of my favourite places to visit is the Auckland Winter Gardens – it’s always beautiful in there (and warm inside the glasshouses) and there are ever changing displays to enjoy as you stroll around the gardens. It’s the perfect spot to visit when the weather is a bit average but you want to get out and take walk, because most of it is undercover. View Post
On the road again
I love a good summer roadtrip, especially when the destination is my partner’s home town of Taupo. We load up the car with all of our stuff, crank up the music and I annoy the child with my singing. There’s no need to dress all fancy for a roadie, casual and comfortable is where it’s at. View Post
