Meet Hannah Gough aka Miss Glamour LaRue – Glam for short. She’s a model, an early childhood educator, a Miss Pinup New Zealand 2015 finalist, derby girl and all round awesome babe. I was excited to be able to shoot with her for my Fat Girls Shouldn’t Wear Stripes project and ask her a few questions about being body positive and being a plus size woman in the Miss Pinup New Zealand 2015 finals.
The Very Vintage Day Out 2014
The Very Vintage Day Out 2014 was a very different experience for me this year, I think because I went with friends instead of going by myself. Everything is always infinitely more fun with friends! I’ve got loads of pictures for you this year, and very few words (for a change), so let’s kick off…

I think an important part of the body positive journey is wearing clothes that make you feel fabulous – at least, it has been a very important part of my journey. I find it nearly impossible to feel bad about myself and my body if I am wearing a kick ass outfit, one that I love, that I feel good in and that I believe looks good on me.
My favourite style at the moment is retro inspired – tops and full swings skirts or dresses that nip in at the waist, all worn with layers of petticoats underneath. It is a style that I feel fantastic in, and thankfully there are a number of companies out there at the moment that are providing retro reproductions (designs inspired by true vintage but in modern fabrics and colours) in plus sizes. Amber
I’m totally feeling the Amber love this week – this woman inspires me so much (plus, she’s super fun and I love spending time with her!), so here she is in a second feature for the week. Missed her earlier? Check out our Chubby Cartwheels editorial shoot from earlier in the week here.
This is the first photo I ever took of Amber, and if you made it along to my recent exhibition, you’ll recognise it as being one of my collector’s item postcards. I chose this to be one of my two postcard designs because for me it really embodies what Fat Girls Shouldn’t Wear Stripes is all about – feeling comfortable in your own skin, being confident, and embracing fashion despite being told certain things are “not for you” because of your size
