You know how much I love a good striped dress, right? Striped anything really, just point it out and I’ll be there! When my friend Monique announced that she’d designed a few pieces for her label Dressing Room, I was super excited that one of the things she came up with was this gorgeous striped Swings and Roundabouts dress and decided right away that I wanted to pre-order one.
Knowing how much I love stripes Monique offered to send me one, and I was super excited until I realised that there was no fucking way my hips would fit into a size 24. Noooo! I told Monique and she said they’d try making a 26 and we’d see how it turned out. Well, I think it turned out pretty bloody great, if I’m honest! And now they’ve been made available to buy in a 26 as well, so win-win!
Here’s the run down: the fabric is soft and stretchy; the dress is super comfortable (I wore it while I was in Thames, and for the roadtrip home – we’ll talk about that trip a little later); it’s a great length, hitting me around the knees. Over summer I’ll definitely wear it with bare legs, but we were dodging thunderstorms when I wore this over the weekend so I added some 3/4 leggings to help keep me warm. There’s also a keyhole on the back that I love – even though I can’t see it, it’s a sweet little detail that makes the dress a little bit more fun. The only thing I’d change would be to make the sleeves a little shorter as they are more like 7/8 than 3/4 sleeves on me. Otherwise it fits true to size on the top and is quite generous through the hips.
So there we have it – cute, comfy, and now available in size 12-26. Monique has decided to do a second run of these, which is awesome for anyone who missed out the first time. They can only do 15 though so if you want in then I wouldn’t wait around!
In the meantime, I’ll be over here counting the days until summer when I’ll be wearing the Swings and Roundabouts dress with bare legs and sandals. It’s less than five weeks until daylight saving starts and I can’t wait…
