Have you ever put on a dress and immediately felt absolutely amazing in it? That’s how I felt the minute I shimmied into the Ambrosia dress from IGIGI. When I looked at it on their website I thought it was beautiful, but I’ll admit that it took a moment of bravery to order it. It’s curve hugging and it leaves no room to hide: to me it’s a bold dress. I almost chickened out and chose something else, but I’m so glad I went with this, because it honestly makes me feel like a million bucks.
In this dress I feel so glamorous, so fancy, so powerful. I hate the word sexy, but I’ll say that I feel damn fine in this dress. It hug my curves, it caresses my body. I feel beautiful and it makes me smile that small secret inner smile (you know the one, that little smirk you get when you’re totally feeling yourself).
My arms are covered to the elbow and the dress goes down to just below my knee, so it feels quite demure. Until you look at the neckline, which really shows off my cleavage! I’m not usually keen to have the girls so out there, but it seems to work with the sassy feel of the dress and because the rest of me is so covered, I actually don’t feel like I’ve got too much on show.
The Ambrosia dress is lined, and you’d think by looking at it that it would feel tight or constricting, but it doesn’t at all. It skims my curves but it’s still really comfortable. It doesn’t have any kind of inbuilt shapewear but I’d say that if you like to wear shapewear with it then you could do so without any worry about it showing through. I’ve also tried it with anti-chafing shorts and it was both comfy and you couldn’t see the seams of the shorts or lines where they met my skin – two thumbs up for not having to worry about chub rub!
I was in between sizes according to the size chart, so I decided to go with the larger size to account for my hips. I don’t think I needed to though, as this dress has plenty of stretch and it doesn’t feel super tight around my hips and bum. If I was getting a dress from IGIGI that was intended to have a loose fit then I’d still choose the larger size, but something like this that’s meant to be curve hugging and has lots of stretch, I could have opted for the smaller size.
Where am I planning to wear this dress? Nowhere for now, because I’ve just had surgery and I’m living the “pyjamas as daywear” life for a little while. But when I’ve recovered, I’ll dress it up with a necklace and a cute clutch for a date night out with the Mr.
Where would you wear this dress?
Let me know how you’d style it

I had to double look at the dress I put a dress very similar to this in my shopping cart just last night and then chickened out. And your question where would you wear this was why I did that but actually . You could dress it up with heels necklace a clutch for date night . And maybe a denim jacket and flats for an outing with the girlfriends . I’m no fashionista just learning about my own style at the moment so loving your blog.
I think this is one of the most versatile dresses in my wardrobe now! I can’t wait to experiment with different ways to wear it 🙂 Hope you end up getting that dress Amber xo
