I love getting outfit inspiration from other people’s outfit choices – it’s what makes people watching, blog reading and Pinterest pinning so great. I’m a bit of a newbie when it comes to Pinterest (come and follow me here), but my blogging friend Jo from iCurvy has made a cool challenge to get us all inspired.
Here’s how it works. She chooses an outfit that has been pinned to Pinterest (the “pin”), and we put our own “spin” on it. It’s not so much about recreating the look as it is taking inspiration from it. This month’s pin comes from Catherine Summers’ blog Not Dressed As Lamb.
While some of the other bloggers have taken on the pattern clash aspect of this look, I’ve gone straight for the layering. Why? Because it’s bloody freezing, and while I want to look fabulous, I also want to keep warm. Here’s my take:
I’ve definitely put my much darker touch on this outfit, with a black and grey merino striped top (which is so warm that it’s seen me through the last few cold seasons really well) underneath a lightweight maxi that I love but to be honest is not warm enough to wear alone in winter.
Ankle boots are par for the course in winter (although they’re hidden under my dress), and rather than belt this dress I’ve decided to let it take it’s natural voluminous shape.
I thought I should add a pop of colour via the scarf, so this gorgeous print from Chocolat’s SS16 collection was the ideal way to brighten things up. I love the sunset colours and think that they sit just perfectly with my ginger hair.
Where do you get your outfit inspiration?
