Shower at Lush

When you think of Lush, are bath bombs the first thing that spring to mind? I wouldn’t be surprised – they’re pretty well known for their incredible bath products. Every time I mention Lush, I inevitably have someone tell me they don’t have a bath at home, or they don’t have the time to take a bath. I completely understand that. Baths are a real luxury in our house (both in terms of time and my water bill!) but I’m still a massive Lush fangirl.

That’s why I’m stoked that Lush has seriously upped their game when it comes to shower products. Over recent years they’ve spent a lot of time inventing cool new things – it’s not just soaps, now there are shower gels and jellies, body scrubs, body conditioners and even shower bombs!

Shower Gels

Let’s start with something you probably already know about. Shower gels. These have always been my go to shower product – pour onto your facecloth or loofah or whatever you wash your body with, and lather up. Super easy, does what it says on the bottle. I usually have a couple of these on the go at any one time, in different scents of course. That way I can pick and choose depending on what time I’m using it (morning or evening).

A few of my favourite scents are: Dirty Springwash (fresh and minty); Rose Jam (roses and vanilla); Yog Nog (sweet and caramelly, this one is a Christmas exclusive); and Sleepy (lavender, my fave for night time).

Lush American Cream Shower Gel and Lush American Cream Naked Shower Gel

Naked Shower Gels

These are shower gels, but they’re solid. They look a little bit like soap, but don’t be fooled – they’re not. I think that this is an incredibly cool way of doing away with the bottles that Lush shower gel usually comes in. When the naked products first launched a couple of years ago I tried one and didn’t really use it because my shower set up at the time wasn’t really conducive to keeping it out of the water, so it ended up as hand wash by my sink.

For the purposes of blog research, I gave the American Cream Naked Shower Gel (strawberry and vanilla) another go in the shower and found that it lasts a lot longer if you keep it from sitting in the spray of the water. I keep mine on my bath caddy at the other end of the bath from the swhI still don’t really have the hang of these but do like that there is a plastic-free alternative.

Shower Jellies

The texture of the shower jellies is really intriguing – as you would expect from the name, it’s just like jelly. They come in a pot and when you want to use them just tip them into your hand and lather up! There are a couple of size options for these – if you go for the bigger one (which I have here) then you might want to break it (or cut it) into smaller pieces to make it more manageable as I find the bigger size just a bit too large for me to handle easily.

A few of my favourite shower jelly scents are: Twilight (lavender and tonka); Deep Sleep (lavender and chamomile); Whoosh (citrus) and Santa’s Belly (apple, this one is a Christmas exclusive and the scent actually makes my mouth water).

Lush Naked Solid Body Conditioner

Body Conditioners

Basically these are moisturisers that you use in the shower after you’ve washed your body. This is a concept that’s been around for a while, and I love it because while I have good intentions of putting on a moisturiser every day … sometimes I just don’t. If I pop it on while I’m in the shower, it means it’s all done. I like to match my body conditioner to my shower gel, so naturally I’ve been using the Yog Nog in the lead up to the holidays. These come in both the pots like a regular moisturiser, and in the naked solid version. I think I prefer the solid version of the body conditioner, because if you accidentally drop some of the other one on the floor of the shower it can make it super slippery!

Lush Shower Bombs

Shower Bombs

The shower bombs were probably my biggest “what the heck is this” product. If you’re thinking they are like a bath bomb but for the shower, then I guess you’re kinda right. Once you’ve got the shower to the optimum temperature, instead of throwing the bomb in like you would in a bath, just hold it under the water and watch it start to foam up. The scent is incredible (I tried the Sleepy shower bomb and loved it – it’s perfect for a shower before bed) and it’s a lovely luxurious little treat.

Body Scrubs

If I’m using a loofah with shower gel to cleanse myself I feel like that’s all I need, but if I’m using a shower jelly or one of the naked shower gels then I like to use a body scrub sometimes as well. I find that they leave my skin super soft and smooth (especially great over summer when you’re going swimming a lot and exposing your bod to the elements).

A few of my favourites are: Scrub Scrub Scrub shower scrub (blackberry, rosemary and pine); Ocean Salt face and body scrub (salty and citrusy) and Salted Coconut hand scrub (coconut, of course! I’ve definitely used this one all over, not just on my hands).

Soaps

I’m pretty sure I don’t need to tell you how to use soap, right? This was my gateway to Lush, but definitely not my fave thing for the shower – personally I prefer to keep these for the hand basin. However if you do like soap I have a couple I can recommend. My first ever Lush soap was Honey I Washed The Kids, when I was a teenager – it’s caramelly and amazing, and definitely still my favourite! I also love Rock Star which is sweet and vanilla-y and Maypole, which is pepperminty and just writing about it makes my mouth water.

As you can tell I’m a big Lush fan. I’ve been asked so many times if I work for Lush or been mistaken for an employee. Especially when I’m in store and excitedly telling a friend about a product! I’ve been using their products for well over 20 years now, even more so since I made the decision to make my beauty routine cruelty free back in 2014. Naturally, I was super excited to see so many recent additions to their shower range. I can’t wait to see what they come up with next (and I’m keeping my fingers crossed that they bring back The Comforter shower gel!).
