As soon as I saw that Snag Tights were planning on releasing a clothing range (in addition to their tights and chub rub shorts), I was excited. Their stockings have been pretty revolutionary to me, and are by far the best tights I’ve ever worn. I won’t tell you exactly how many pairs I’ve got now – it’s not all of them but perhaps close! Of course, trying their clothing was a no brainer for me.
I decided to get some of their leggings, because we’re heading in to winter here in Aotearoa. As someone who primarily works from home, leggings are a staple part of my wardrobe – especially when it’s cold.
SIZING
The Snag Tights Leggings come in sizes A/B-J (4/6-36/38). My regular clothing size – if there is such a thing, as we know there is so much inconsistency in clothing sizes – is NZ/AU/UK 26-28. I wear a size F or G in Snag Tights (I’m kind of in between sizes, so both fit me). The size chart for the Snag Tights Leggings recommends a size G for a 24/26 and a size H for a 28/30, so once again I’m between sizes. I decided to take a risk and go for the bigger size, figuring that I would be able to pass them on to someone else if it turned out I should have sized down. Turns out my instincts were correct, the size H are a great fit on me!
FIT AND FABRIC
It’s hard to know what to expect from leggings when you’ve only seen a picture of them on the internet, right? The Snag Tights leggings are made from recycled polyamide, elastane and certified eco-responsible viscose, according to their website. But that doesn’t tell me the important details like if they are thick enough to wear as pants without showing my undies, if they’ll keep my legs warm, or if they’ll actually be comfy. Will they be like my activewear leggings or like ones I layer under an outfit?
So here’s the run down. The Snag Tights leggings feel super soft and are fitted on me but don’t feel super constrictive. The leggings are opaque and squat proof, you can wear them as pants if you want. They remind me a lot of a pair of ponte pants I bought a couple of years ago but a much better fit and quality, and a third of the price.
They fit high waisted on me (high enough that I can wear a cropped top and show a bit of my midriff without feeling super exposed!), and are intended to be 7/8 in length. Because I’m only 5’4″ that makes them more like full length trouser on me and I’m not mad about it. There are pockets on both sides, on the legs like my activewear pants have, and are more than roomy enough to fit my phone in.
WEAR
I’ve washed and worn my leggings so many times in the last month or so. I’ve probably worn them more days than I’ve not worn them, if I’m being honest. They have experienced a very small amount of pilling in a couple of areas, but this is very minimal.
The dogs have jumped up on me a few times. There is no sign of any tearing or wear where their paws have been on my leggings. I’ve also experienced no sag or stretch despite wearing them a lot!
I honestly couldn’t be happier with these and am strongly considering getting a second pair next time I order Snags. Yes, that’s how much I wear mine. I feel like I need multiple pairs, so when one is in the wash I can be wearing the other. Sounds fair, right?
As I mentioned, I’ve been wearing my leggings a lot. With crops and t-shirts, tunics and slouchy sweaters. They’re good with sandals and sneakers and boots. Basically everything! I’ve got so many ideas of how I can style these, so expect to see them quite a bit on me over winter.
How would you style these leggings?
