Review: Lush Cupcake Face Mask

Recently I went to Lush NZ’s first ever Blogger Event (which was HEAPS of fun, and taught me a lot about the Lush ethos), and one of the highlights for me was helping the Queen Street Lushies make a Cupcake Face Mask. That’s right, cupcake that goes on your face instead of in your face…

Cupcake1“Chocolate heaven for oily and teenage skin. Its action removes excess oil and calms breakouts. Rhassoul mud cleans and soothes, linseed, cocoa butter and cocoa powder soften the skin. Balancing peppermint, spearmint and sandalwood oils complete this effective and delicious experience.”

This is a fresh face mask that contains no preservatives, so it needs to be kept refrigerated and lasts for about three weeks.  Now, just a wee pro tip for you: take the tub of face mask out of the fridge 10-15 minutes before you use it so that it can come up to room temperature. This will make it way easier to spread all over your face. When I applied it for the first time I tried to do it cold and it was just not spreadable enough.

Cupcake‘s consistency is somewhere between cake batter and icing, and it smells like minty chocolatey deliciousness (but don’t eat it!).

My verdict…
This smells freaking amazing! It doesn’t give my skin the tight, dry feeling I sometime experience with face masks, and after using it, my skin feels soft and smooth and hydrated. It does a great job of dealing with my hormonal breakouts too. I’d definitely recommend this, especially if you have younger skin.

SHOP IT: You can get a 75g pot of Cupcake Face Mask for $18.90, from your local Lush store or order online.

Have you used any of Lush’s fresh face masks before? I’d love to know what your favourite is, or if there are any you think that I should try!

The event was super fun, I’m really happy that blogging is growing here in NZ – hopefully more blogger specific events on the way!

I’ve tried Oatifix and The Sacred Truth, both DIVINE. Thinking of trying Cupcake next thanks to weird oily spotty skin of late, so thanks for the heads up! 🙂
