Review: Remington Smooth & Silky Ultimate Cordless Wet/Dry Epilator

Remington Smooth & Silky Ultimate Cordless Wet/Dry Epilator

After I had surgery on my knee earlier in the year I had to reassess what kind of hair removal I was using. Fact is, standing in the shower shaving my legs takes a long time and put a lot of strain on my fragile knee. That, combined with the amount of water that gets used while you’re shaving? Time to try something new.

I’ve tried waxing and depilatory creams, but waxing is expensive (to get my arms and legs done would cost $70 every four to five weeks – might not seem like much to some people but I’d rather spend my money on other things like getting my nails done). While I find depilatory creams effective, the hair grows back faster than I’d like. Laser hair removal is out of my budget for now, and so I decided to try an epilator. The last time I talked about hair removal, lots of you mentioned that was what you used, so I put my fears aside and tried out the Remington EP7036AU Smooth & Silky Ultimate Cordless Wet/Dry Epilator.

My biggest concern before using the Remington Smooth & Silky Ultimate Cordless Wet/Dry Epilator was that it would hurt. Let’s be honest, that’s probably the concern for most of us right?  The noise it makes is quite loud, and I think that’s what makes me scared that it’s going to hurt. Once I actually start using it the pain isn’t nearly as bad as I thought it would be (and totally not as painful as waxing is for me). Like getting a tattoo, you kind of get used to the sensation eventually and after a little while I barely noticed it.

Since I filmed this video I’ve also used the epilator on my arms. I didn’t bother trimming the hairs down but I wish I had because I definitely thought it was more painful where I had longer hair. I haven’t quite built up the courage to try it on my upper lip yet, because the noise that freaks me out a bit when I get it close to my face. I know that’s silly because I’ve used it on my arms and legs and it was fine, but I’m still tentative about using it on my upper lip! If anyone has any tips for overcoming this, please please let me know!

I’d love to know if you use an epliator, or if you’d be keen to give this one a go. If you want to know about other kinds of hair removal, I’ve written about that in this post.

The Remington EP7036AU Smooth & Silky Ultimate Cordless Wet/Dry Epilator is $249.99 RRP, which is a pricey outlay but I think well worth it when you consider how much waxing is per month! You can find your local NZ stockist by calling 0800 736 776.

Have you used an epilator before?

Don’t use on your upper lip! Broken capillaries!

I’m not sure what you mean? It’s got an attachment designed for areas like the upper lip and is not much different to waxing, which I already do?

I have used one for about 10 years, I Def need an upgrade, but I use mine mainly for under my chin top lip, when I use it on my legs I get many flat thread hairs. But they are pretty rad!

I have been considering one of those for about 3 years, but thought it might hurt due to ultra sensitive legs. You have just sold me on that, I will definitely be getting one.
I hate shaving them, I go hairy more than I do shave, just cause of my size and the difficulty doing it.
PS…like any hair, the more often it gets pulled from the roots, the less it hurts.

The sand paper one would be for doing rough bits on your heals or feet I would guess.
