New pyjamas at Christmas is pretty much the best Christmas Eve tradition. I ordered my new PJs ages ago but when they arrived they were way too short so now I’m on a last minute mission to find the perfect pyjamas for this Christmas Eve. Christmas morning is always a casual affair for us, having breakfast and opening presents in your PJs is completely acceptable. But what pyjamas to get? Here’s a few that I’ve found – let me know which ones you like!
My love for Peter Alexander is no secret – he’s got the cutest designs and I’m really stoked to see that some of them are available in both straight and plus sizes. My top pick from the P.A. Plus range are these grumpy cat shorts – nothing beats a cute smooshy face kitty!
SHOP IT: P.A. Plus Christmas Penny Sleep Tee $89.99 and P.A. Plus Grumpy Cat Boyshort $69.99 from Peter Alexander
Whether it’s animal print or paw prints, if there is some kind of cute animal something then I’m keen. I’m not ashamed to admit that I have three pairs of pyjamas with owls on them (see, told you I liked pyjamas!).
SHOP IT: Panda Eyes Pyjama Top AUD $24.00; Paw Print Pyjama Bottoms AUD $24.00; Meow Pyjama Top AUD $24.00; Animal Print Pyjama Bottoms AUD $24.00 from Yours Clothing
Surprisingly there are currently no slogan tees in my sleepwear drawer, but I thought both of these were cute. It’s no secret that after past deeds I am forever etched onto Santa’s naughty list, whoops!
SHOP IT: Naughty Sleep Tee $96.70, Shorts $58.00 and Glitter Sleep Shirt $71.60 from Lane Bryant
There’s something about a classic Fair Isle pattern that screams Christmas to me, and I think it’s something that can work throughout the year without being too obviously Christmassy.
SHOP IT: I’d Rather Be Sleeping Sleep Set Tee USD $24.43 and Fair Isle Pajama Pants USD $23.03; Snuggle Up Sleep Set Cami USD $13.23 and Sleep Skull Fair Isle Shorts USD $20.23 from Torrid
As you will find out over the next few pairs of pyjamas, I love reindeer motifs. I was desperately trying not to make this too much of a Christmassy list because I know not everyone is really in to festive pyjamas, or spending a considerable amount of money on something that can only be worn for a short period of the year, but I’m gonna be honest, I don’t care. All I want for Christmas is reindeer pyjamas please.
SHOP IT: Reindeer PJ Set $125.80 and Kissing Reindeer PJ Set $116.10 from Lane Bryant
Reindeer and Robins are pretty festive but I think these pyjamas could be worn any time. Christmas falls in summer here in NZ so I think this snuggly sleepwear could also be good over winter when people are celebrating mid-Winter Christmas.
SHOP IT: “Oh Deer” Reindeer Pyjama Set AUD $38.00 and Christmas Robin “Snuggle” Top & Checked Pyjama Bottoms AUD $42.00 from Yours Clothing
I love grey, I love Fair Isle patterns, I love reindeer … basically I just need both of these sets of pyjamas. You heard me, I said need, not want! Let’s be honest, these could totally be worn year round as well, right?
SHOP IT: Reindeer Tee $96.70, Fair Isle Sleep Pants $71.60, Sharkskin Sleep Top $67.70 and Reindeer Sleep Pants $71.60 from Lane Bryant
Are you a cute pyjamas person or a traditional pyjamas person? I don’t want to wear a flannel nightgown, I want something fun and cute! These Minnie Mouse pyjamas would have been #goals for five year old me.
SHOP IT: ASOS CURVE Minnie Mouse Print Tee & Legging Pyjama Set $54.95 and ASOS CURVE Christmas Vacay Tee & Pyjama Pant Set $34.87 from ASOS
When it comes to pyjamas, I prefer long pants or leggings with a tee or singlet (unless it’s very cold, then I’ll go for long sleeves) – what do you prefer?
SHOP IT: Fairisle Pyjama Set €14.99 and Party Bear Pyjama Set €22.99 from New Look
Hold the presses, a cat in a Christmas sweater and My Little Pony pyjamas might just be the ultimate in sleepwear. I know that 5 year old me would have been absolutely fizzing about both of these, and if ever there was a time for nostalgia, Christmas is it.
SHOP IT: Cat Nap Nightdress AUD $24.00 and My Little Pony Pyjama Set AUD $56.00 from Yours Clothing
What style of pyjamas do you wear?
Let me know in the comments below
I was born in Ohio but I have lived in Florida for 40 years.
I still find it difficult to accept the warmer weather we keep having every year when all the media surrounding Christmas says it has to be cold.
Also my early childhood was about all the snow and it just seems magical with all that.
So I got my pajamas from Walmart-lol.
They are a red plaid 2 piece set with long sleeves.
How do you feel with Christmas falling in the summer and it being warm.
Does it bother you that all the media talks about snow and the North Pole and Christmas being white and all that?
I’m just curious to how it feels with opposite seasons from us in America.
I really love reading your blog.
Beth
I’ve only ever known summer Christmases, and the media here is different to what you have in the US. Our Christmas is all about beaches and BBQs and all those good summer things! Santa is spotted in jandals and shorts instead of a suit and boots. We get a little bit of stuff about snow + white Christmas, but I mostly see it from my friends who live in the colder parts of the world. That being said, it’s still cold in some parts of New Zealand – and I know it’s snowed just before Christmas in colder areas!
I usually buy pjs as separates so I can mix and match best styles and sizes although i’m totally loving the My Little Pony pjs… very tempting!!!
My girls usually get new pjs xmas eve so this year I thought i’d join in. I found some festive pjs at Miller’s last week – can’t wait to see my 4 year olds face!
Yay, so cool that you’re getting new PJs as well – such a nice easy thing for you all to share in 🙂
Those grumpy cat pair of shorts is fucking awesome! I love wearing shorts and a baggy t-shirt to bed
Aren’t they rad? Perfect for wearing over summer when it gets super hot too!
