My favourite time of year is fast approaching, and with Halloween falling on a Saturday night this year there are sure to be a bunch of spooky guys and ghouls about. I always look forward to dressing up, so if you’re on the hunt for plus size Halloween costumes this year, don’t you worry – I’ve found some great ones for you.
I’m a longtime fan of adding bunny or cat ears on to an all black ensemble. It’s quick and pretty effortless which is sometimes just what you need. If you’re after a tulle skirt with a bit more coverage, then check out these ones from Society+.
Amara Luxe Long Line Steel Boned Corset with Halter Strap | Super Soft Tulle Long Petticoat | Lace Bunny Ears with Veil | Long Stretch Lace Fingerless Gloves
One story that has some great costumes is Alice in Wonderland. A rabbit purse like this one from Leg Avenue is a great finishing touch, and perhaps you could get a friend to dress at the Mad Hatter…
Bella Taffeta Corset | Short Shaper Skirt with Detachable Garters | Short Taffeta Skirt | Raw Edge Striped Thigh High Stockings | Ruffled Two Layer Petticoat | Light Blue Taffeta Sleeves with Bow | Halter Lace Apron
What attracted me to this costume was the cape – building your outfit around one central piece can be a great idea. Even just this cape with a simple maxi dress like the one I’m wearing here would be great for a witch outfit!
Vintage Cotton Steel Boned Corset | Stretch Velvet Long Cape | Lace Trim Cotton Bustle | Opaque Over The Knee Stay Up Stockings | Enchantress High Waist Half Slip | Nude Fishnet Pantyhose
Witch is pretty much a go-to for me. You can go for the pointy hat variety (not really my thing) or channel more modern, fashionable witchy babes, like the girls from The Craft, who pretty much inspired most of my teenage style choices! Little accessories can really help your outfit come together.
Pentacle Dangle Earrings | Runes Sunglasses | Witch Symbols Sunglasses | Pentacle Rings
This outfit totally made me think of something Harley Quinn inspired. She’s one of my favourite DC characters and we don’t get to see nearly enough of her. More Harley Quinn please, world!
Diamond Corset | Ruffled Two Layer Petticoat | Raw Edge Striped Thigh High Stockings | Short Shaper Skirt with Detachable Garters | 18″ Fantasy Extension Crinoline Fascinator | Short Satin Party Gloves | Leather Harness
While we’re talking about DC characters, I can’t resist mentioning my all time favourite gal, Poison Ivy. I’ve dressed up as her before and had so much fun with the costume!
Amelie Long Line Steel Boned Corset | Mermaid Trumpet Tulle Skirt | Ivy Garland | 3 Pack of Flower Clips
You don’t have to have a full on costume either, a little bit of spooky here and there is just fine. These cobweb leggings would look super cute with a black skater dress or a long tee and some accessories.
Suzywan DELUXE Halloween Pumpkin Earrings | Suzywan DELUXE Glitter Halloween Bat Necklace | ASOS Moon Hair Brooch | Suzywan DELUXE Iridescent Halloween Ghost Earrings
Mirror mirror, on the wall. Who is the fairest of them all? You are, in this Snow White inspired costume! One of my good friends dressed up as Snow White one year and she looked absolutely darling.
Bronwyn Steel Boned Corset | Short Satin Skirt | Ruffled Two Layer Petticoat | Leather Harness | Red Satin Sleeves | Nude Fishnet Pantyhose | Over The Knee Stay Ups With Bow | Steampunk Fingerless Fishnet Gloves
Wear the crown and channel the evil queen, or add some fangs for a sultry vampire look … it’s the finishing touches that will really help make this outfit.
Valentina Steel Boned Underbust Corset | La Sirena Luxe Steel Boned Corset | Super Soft Tulle Long Petticoat | Stretch Velvet Cropped Blouse | Stretch Velvet Victorian Sleeves | Enchanted Crown
Cinderella is a bit of a classic fairytale, and proof that a new pair of shoes can change your life. I love this outfit but thing that it would look even better paired with one of the gorgeous full tutus from Society+ (honestly, any excuse to wear their tutus!).
Bella Taffeta Corset | Cinderella Petticoat | Tiara Hair Comb | Short Satin Party Gloves | Short Shaper Skirt with Detachable Garters | Mid Thigh High Sheer Stockings | Light Blue Taffeta Sleeves with Bow
Red Riding Hood was one of my favourite stories as a child and I think I’ve dressed as Red at least two or three times over the years. It’s definitely something to do with the red cloak! I seem to have a thing for cloaks and capes and the like. Bonus points if you go trick or treating with a picnic basket. At grandma’s house…
Ophelia Underbust Leather Corset | Soft Cotton Bell Sleeve Dress | Stretch Velvet Long Cape | Steampunk Fingerless Fishnet Gloves | Leather Straps
Do you have any Halloween plans this year? What will you be dressing up as?
That moon hair brooch is so damn cool.
Isn’t it beautiful?! I really want one
I love Halloween, it’s such a throwback to being a kid right? I’d love to dress up as Snow White again x
It really is! Any excuse to dress up, hehe
Love the accessories! I wish I had them all!
Me too – especially the glasses!
