How to get fabulously fierce Fashion Week hair

I didn’t get a chance to head down to Wellington Fashion Week this year, because I’m super busy with my final year of uni (which means no fun trips away for me, boo!).  However, I have been avidly watching the instagram/twitter/facebook feeds to see all the goings on.

One show I wished I could have been at was the AW’13 Group Collections Showcase, which featured Trelise Cooper, Moochi, twoWORLDs, STORM, Mondegreen, Sabatini at Goodness, and Taylor. What a wonderful collection of designers!

Something that caught my eye was the hair styling – I love the edgy look pictured above!

Thanks to Sebastian Professional Urban Artist, Amy Alexander for sharing this step-by-step guide on how to re-create this great runway hair look. View Post

Giving my locks a new lease on life at Live & Let Dye

I had the pleasure of visiting Live & Let Dye salon in Mount Eden yesterday, for a colour appointment with Kirsty.  It was my first visit to Live & Let Dye, and I am pleased to report that my experience was wonderful!  I went in not really knowing what I wanted – which as I am sure you will have figured out by now is very unusual for me – and had a good chat to Kirsty and Michelle about what was important to me in terms of colour (low maintenance, because I’m a student and can’t afford to colour my hair as often as some looks require and something that will grow out okay without announcing to the world that I haven’t had my colour done in *ahem* five months).

You might think my hair naturally looks this fabulous, but no! It’s the magic of Kirsty at Live & Let Dye in Mount Eden, Auckland.

That’s right, I hadn’t coloured my hair in five months. Oh how my life has changed! The reason I decided to colour it again after so long is that I really like the way a fresh colour leaves my hair looking glossy and healthy. View Post

Editorial Shoot with Cassie Ace

Cassie Ace is one of my favourite models to work with, and we have collaborated together on a number of fun projects. I’m also proud to count her amongst my very best friends, and she’s someone that I talk my ideas over with quite often.

When I shared with her my vision for where I’d like to take thisismeagankerr.com, she got as excited as I did. Like me, Cassie is curvy. And like me, Cassie loves great fashion – clothes, shoes, you name it. So we figured that there must be many other curvy gals who love fashion too! This blog post is for you… and hey, stick around. There will be much more future content for you too, as I search for all the best plus sze fashion.

Here’s a wee collaboration between myself and Cassie. We wanted to show a couple of the amazing swimsuits that are out there for plus size gals. I’d love to hear what you think of these beautiful swimsuits (I really want the Bondage Bathers by Gisela Ramirez!).

Why hello there, lovely to meet you! Tell me about yourself…

Over the past few weeks, you’ve read about some of the wonderful bloggers I know, and now I thought that it might be time for me to learn a little about you!

Hi, I'm Meagan! Nice to meet you.

Hi, I’m Meagan! Nice to meet you.

If you would like to play along just copy and paste the questions into the comments section and replace my answers with yours. I can’t wait to meet you!

1. How old are you?
28.
2. Where are you from?
Auckland, New Zealand.
3. What do you do for a living?
I’m a full-time Design and Visual Arts student. I’m also a blogger, a photographer, a teaching assistant, and a library assistant – a bit of a Girl Friday!
4. If you could have any super power, what would it be?
Telekinesis, so I could visit my friends and family all over the world.
5. What is your favourite item in your wardrobe?
I own one pair of trousers from TS 14+ that are an amazing stretch knit fabric and are so comfortable! Their only downside is that they’re handwash only – I don’t have the attention span for that, so I don’t get to wear them as often as I’d like.
6. Where do you want to travel to?
Everywhere! I want to experience France, Scotland, Italy, Japan, Czech Republic, Antarctica and more, as well as revisiting places like Indonesia and New Caledonia.

Everyone who answers my questions will go in the draw to win a gift pack of random beauty treats, because it’s United Nations International Day of Happiness, and giving  you treats makes me happy!

Cute cardigans (and other luscious knitwear) for Autumn

I’m a bit confused about what’s going on with the weather at the moment – one minute it’s chilly and gloomy and the next thing I know, the sun is blazing! I have the perfect solution – slouchy, preppy knitwear that you can slip in and out of as the weather changes. Here are some of my picks for the season…
