When it comes to makeup, I think I’m pretty blunt about the fact that I don’t have killer makeup skills. I like to keep it minimal, and my go to style is more of a no makeup makeup look than when I’m going for a full face look. I only use a few products to give me a look that is polished but not overdone – I switch out my full coverage foundation for a tinted moisturiser, swap my lipstick for a more subtle one and just generally tone everything down a bit.
BASE:
Sorbet Cosmetics The Perfector*
I use this moisturiser under my makeup because it’s really hydrating on my skin and it leaves my skin feeling baby soft. Pro tip – apply it when you get out of the shower and leave it to settle on to your skin while you’re getting dressed. It needs about 10 minutes before you can apply makeup on top so use your time wisely (especially if you’re in a hurry in the morning).
Dermalogica Skinperfect Primer SPF30
Using a primer has really changed my makeup game – it evens out my skin texture and balances my skin tone so that I have a really good base to apply my makeup to. It took me a little while to figure out the best way to use it, so I’ve shared a few tips here.
Dermalogica Sheer Tint SPF20 in Medium*
This is a tinted moisturiser that gives me a nice light coverage. It’s perfect for the days when I want to feel made up without going full on cake face (I usually save that for evenings or work events). You can get it in three different shades, and I’ve found that medium is perfect for me and still lets my freckles show through.
EYES:
Billion Dollar Brows Universal Brow Pencil
I’ve been using this since February and I’m loving it. I use it to fill in the parts of my brows that I’m growing out (and cover up that pesky white hair I found), and I like that you can use it no matter what your hair colour is! I’ve been tossing up a wee change of colour…
Blinc Eyebrow Mousse in Clear*
This is the finishing touch for my brows – it sculpts them so they’re sitting nicely and it’s got anti-ageing ingredients to nourish your skin too. I use it in clear (either by itself or over a brow pencil), but you can get it in coloured tints as well.
Australis Killer Curves Mascara
This has been my go to mascara for ages – it gives my lashes a great curl and lift. When I’m going for a minimal look, I only use one coat.
LIPS:
Karen Murrell Lipstick in Violet Mousse*
Violet Mousse is that “my lips but better” shade of lipstick that I can wear any time of day or night. It’s soft and creamy, and unsurprisingly (because I think it’s pretty well documented how much I love Karen Murrell lipsticks), I’ve been wearing it a lot.
Do you go for a no makeup look or do you prefer a more full coverage look?
I have three Dermalogica Sheer Tint Moisturisers to give away – head over here to enter.
