As you all know, I don’t work in an office job any more, so I’m pretty much free to wear whatever I like during working hours (hello pyjamas!). Great for me, but not so helpful for those of you who need ideas on what to wear to work! So when Navabi got in touch and invited me to pick something out of their range I wanted to choose something I knew would be an awesome option to wear either to work or out and about (multi-purpose clothes are the best kind!).
Having big boobs means that I have to be really conscious of necklines if a dress is going to be office appropriate. I have some dresses that look perfectly fine on someone with a smaller bust, but on me they’re cleavage city and not the kind of thing I want to wear for work. I think that the neckline on this dress gives me appropriate coverage but it’s not too close to my throat – basically my perfect happy medium.
The a-line cut of the dress is a nice simple shape that’s comfortable and works well for me, and I really appreciate that the hemline hits me just below the knee. I often find that dresses that seem to be just above knee length on models who are a size 16 (or smaller) are a lot shorter on me, so I try to go for ones that fall to below the knee. One of the things I love about Navabi is that they give you a lot of information about the fit of each garment – for example, this dress has info about sleeve size (great for people like me with big arms), length, what kinds of fabric are used… basically everything you need to be able to figure out the best size for you.
The dress is super comfortable to wear and I have no doubt that if I had an office job I would definitely be wearing it. It’s quite a thick fabric and warm to wear so I’d recommend it for autumn and winter – which the wine colour works perfectly for. I’ve noticed a weird trend of either stretch lining and non-stretch dress or non-stretch lining and stretch dress lately so I was really pleased to find that the dress is stretchy and so is the lining. To be honest, the only thing it’s missing is pockets!
I’m wearing my dress with a pair of men’s boots for a more casual look, but you could dress it up with a pair of heels or some brogues. You could wear it with a belt, with a blazer, with a cardigan … basically it’s a great basic dress that you can dress up or down to suit your style!
I’d love to know how you’d style this dress

Such a gorgeous colour on you! My work wardrobe is literally all black, would be a nice change to inject a bit of colour into the mix.
Thanks Lucie! I wear dark colours most of the time so this is a great way to break up the black a bit
I would love to see the dress with some wedge sandal shoes. if you know what I mean. SUPER cute
I’m upset that they no longer carry larger (28+) sizes. I bought one top from their a few years ago and thought I’d be a new, loyal customer, but they soon stopped carrying sizes for me. BUT, you look great in this dress!! That color suits you well!!
Thanks Dee! I just checked the Navabi website and they have clothes up to a UK32 on there at the moment, with a couple of pieces that go up to a 34 – might be worth another look! x
