I’ve heard people talking about iHerb.com for a long time, and I have read about the great things they had to offer on a lot of my favourite beauty blogs (I’m looking at you Cassandra Myee, Lena Talks Beauty and Nana Wintour…) so I finally gave in and placed my first iHerb order. That leads me to this (cue drumroll): my first ever iHerb haul.
After talking to a few babes online about how to get flawless skin, one of them directed me to this BuzzFeed article about stippling brushes. It mentioned that the e.l.f. Stippling Brush was the bomb dot com, and I know that’s a super affordable brand that’s sold on iHerb, so I decided to give it a go … and pick up a few other things while I was there – it’d be rude not to, right? Here’s the lowdown on what I got.
Kiss My Face Natural Liquid Rock Deodorant in Lavender – $6.68 NZD
This is the first cruelty free roll on deodorant I’ve tried and so far I’m loving it. I have a post coming up about cruelty free deodorants, so keep an eye out for that to see how this one stacks up.
Hurraw! Balm in Blue Chamomile Vanilla Night Treatment Balm – $5.56 NZD
I’m a massive fan of Hurraw! balms and have been wanting to try this flavour since I first heard about it. I wasn’t as wowed by it as I hoped to be, because it leaves my lips feeling a bit dry (which none of the other Hurraw! balms do). If you’re a vanilla fan then I’d recommend sticking with the slightly cheaper vanilla bean balm.
Alter Eco Chocolate in Dark Coconut Toffee & Dark Salted Burnt Caramel – $4.92 NZD
Despite being in the middle of Junk Free June, I bought a couple of blocks of chocolate because I really liked the sound of these flavours but iHerb only ships chocolate at certain times of year (because of summer heat) and the cut off was the 14th of June. I just managed to sneak in to place my order before cut off, so now I have these two blocks of sweet goodness torturing me until the end of the month. I’d love if you would donate to our Junk Free June campaign to help keep my resolve strong!
Nuun Hydration Energy Tabs in Lemon & Lime – $7.22 NZD
Nuun Hydration Vitamin + Electrolyte Enhanced Drink Tabs in Tangerine Ginger – $8.94
I know these are a bit of a random addition, but they’re for my boyfriend to help rehydrate him when he does cycling training rides. Has anyone tried them? I’d love to know if they’re any good or if there are any other flavours worth getting!
e.l.f Studio Stipple Brush – $4.32 NZD
This is the first stipple brush I’ve ever used but having used it a few times now I have to say that I love it! I was concerned that it would be a little tricky to get used to, but it’s already shot to the top of my favourite brush list. I am really impressed by the quality of the brush (especially for that price), so I’m going to look at some of the other e.l.f. brushes next time.
e.l.f. Cosmetics Flawless Finish Foundation SPF15 in Buff – $8.74 NZD
I have been using BB creams all summer and I thought it was about time that I got a proper foundation again, so I thought an e.l.f. foundation would be great to go with the new brush. I had a bit of trouble deciding what shade to choose, so compared the shades on the e.l.f. cosmetics website and decided to go with a mid-range shade and that paid off. Buff is a little darker than my winter skin, but would be a good match for my summer skin so it’s a shade that works well for me. I’ve used it a couple of time and am loving how easy it is to apply and how long-lasting it is.
e.l.f. Cosmetics Mineral Blush in Plum – $5.10 NZD
It’s probably been about ten years (if not longer) since I last owned blush, but I am determined to learn the art of basic makeup wizardry so this was a must have for me. The plum blush is a little darker than I expected but I think it looks nice on provided I’m not too heavy handed with it.
MY IHERB REVIEW:
A few things I wanted were out of stock, but otherwise placing an order was super easy. My order arrived in five days (that’s three business days, y’all!) and was well packaged – there was even a bonus measuring scoop included, which will be super handy for measuring out my protein powder for smoothies! Shipping was NZD$19.77 for my order and by using a friend’s iHerb code I got $7.03 off my order. I will definitely be shopping with iHerb again, and if you’d like to check it out then you can use my referral code WJN674 to save $5-10 off your first order.
Have you tried any of the products I got, or purchased through iHerb before?
Give me the lowdown below on what you got or what you want!
omg i herb is the best! great haul meagan 😀
♥ Ellen
I’m such a convert now, I can’t believe I didn’t use it earlier!
I’ve been waiting to read a review like this before ordering! Will defintely be placing one now!!
Awesome! Glad I could help 🙂 Let me know what you end up getting! xo
That chocolate looks so good, but waaaa I missed the shipping cut off sob sob. I’ve never heard of a stipple brush – I really need to learn how to do make up!! I can’t believe how cheap stuff is on iherb. I am heading over right now 🙂
I’d never heard of a stipple brush either until a couple of weeks ago and holy moly it’s life changing. Maybe I should film a quick tutorial for people like us who aren’t makeup experts…
YOUR HAIR IS AMAZING oh my word. Loving the new blog design too! I’ve got that Elf brush too but I prefer a more densely packed brush for foundation! I recently got an iHerb order in the mail too (soy protein/elf zit zapper/shaker & facewash!)
Yay! Glad you hopped on the iHerb bandwagon Meagen. Such an awesome website. I order all my oils from there as well. Their coconut oil is badass. And not to forget the real techniques brushes.
I love that foundation finish on you! What type of skin do have babe? I’m dry skinned so wondering if it’ll be a good pick.
I LOVE Iherb, I usually get protein powders or other superfoods that are way more expensive in NZ, the bf often buys his supplements online from there as well!
Ah, Iherb is awesome! It’s a shame though because once in the UK they tack on customs and handling fees, so it’s not quite as good a deal as shopping from nz.
The real techniques products are a good deal on there, and I like the African soap as well (sorry, on my phone and the name isn’t coming to mind). I’ve heard good hints about Aubrey Organics, Jason, and various organic beauty bits and bobs. And apparently the nestle hot choc us amazing!!
Things! Not hints!
I haven’t used any of these! Although I am a fan of the elf products.
Great haul! I always get snacks or tea from there when I’m stocking up on beauty.
SOLD! I just YouTubed how to use a stipple brush (I have to admit, I had no idea what it was for… makeup novice here!)
Totally heading over there right now! Great recommendation chick! xx
Hurray! I think you’ll love it babe – my makeup has seriously never looked better!!!
I’m not gonna lie. I kinda went straight to the chocolate bit. Those sounds YUM! 🙂
My boyfriend noticed that snack tab pretty fast too haha
