When the boything and I went on our recent adventure, we went up beautiful Mt Ruapehu to climb on rocks and play in the snow. Even though it’s almost summer, it had snowed the night before, so there was plenty of fresh snow up there.
It was a bright sunny day, and the air had a crisp chill to it. I had my outfit for heading up the mountain all planned, but it turned out that I had woefully underestimated how cold it would be – I definitely didn’t expect it to be snowing while we were down there! Luckily I had a coat in stashed in the back of my car – clearly for emergencies such as this!
There is something so lovely about standing on top of a snowy mountain on a sunny day, a cool breeze blowing through your hair. City life is nothing at all like this.
This trip made me realise that I need to spend more time in nature. I might live in the city now, but I grew up in the country with my feet in the dirt and the sun on my face – and I think I need to get back to that. To ground myself. I need to get out and dance under the stars, breathe in the fresh air and feel the earth under my feet. Not every day, I still love living in the city, but definitely more often. This is one of the main reasons I decided to exercise in the park rather than in a gym.
So, I’m committing to walking in nature at least four times a week. I’m going to take off my shoes and do yoga outside rather than in my lounge. And when I can, I’m going exploring. I may even come exploring in other parts of the country, so make sure you’re signed up to my newsletter (coming soon) to find out my travel plans and what events are coming up!
How do you get back to nature?

love that last photo the most! gorgeous! It sure is nice getting outside
Thanks Ezmae, it’s my fave too. Can’t wait for summer!
Beautiful photos!!
For a second, I was confused: had I opened your blog, or the pages of a magazine?! For starters, you look like a total model Meagan (you have THE most beautiful smile!), but also because these photographs are *stunning*. What awesome pictures (and memories!) to have and treasure forever!
P.S. YES! We must hang-out! It would be lovely xoxo
OH YOU! It comes in pretty handy working with another pro photographer, Doug does such great portraits xM
Brr it makes me cold just looking at your pics! I love the mountain, I used to live in Wanganui so we would just duck up to the mountain for a day trip often as it was only just over an hour away 🙂
I love the idea of snow when it’s sunny, but when the weather is cold and rainy like it is here today all I want is sun and sand. Dilemmas!
Nothing makes me feel more invigorated than the outdoors – luckily I have a pooch who demands excessive rambles through the British countryside! I also started running recently – the treadmill makes me dizzy so I run a circuit through woods at the back of my house!

I wish I had a dog to take on rambling walks through the countryside! xM
I couldn’t agree more Meagan! I’m country girl too and everything feels out of kilter if I don’t get outside on a regular basis.
P.S. you look gorgeous
xx
Thanks Sara! I miss the country a lot and would love to move back home but I shall resign myself to enjoying nature where ever I am in the interim 😉
