Wands at the ready for all things Harry Potter

Hands up if you’re a fan of the wizarding world of Harry Potter. I most definitely am – I’ve read the books, watched the films countless times, played LEGO Harry Potter on my PS4, and I’ve been playing Wizards Unite since it was in Beta (more on that in a minute). Naturally, this Ravenclaw gets really excited when new HP stuff comes out! Here’s a few things that have caught my eye lately.

Vans x Harry Potter

I love a classic skate shoe, and Vans were a super popular brand when I was growing up, so I was really excited when I heard that they were releasing a collection inspired by the wizarding world!  There are shoes representing the four Hogwarts Houses (Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Slytherin, and Ravenclaw), as well as pairs inspired by other parts of the HP universe like the Deathly Hallows, the Golden Snitch, the Marauder’s Map and more. It’s really hard to pick a fave pair to be honest!

If you’re in New Zealand you can order some of these styles via the Vans NZ website, but if you’re outside NZ or the ones you want aren’t available locally then you can pick them up here.

Wands at the ready for all things Harry Potter! Have you played Harry Potter: Wizards Unite yet?

Harry Potter: Wizards Unite

Remember when Pokemon Go first came out and loads of us wished there was something similar for the wizarding world? Wish no more – Harry Potter: Wizards Unite is the newest augmented reality game from Niantic and it is cool. I’ve been playing since it was in Beta phase and I’m obsessed.

As a new recruit of the Statute of Secrecy Task Force, your job is to solve the mystery of The Calamity that has caused things from the wizarding world to mysteriously appear in the Muggle world. It’s loads of fun, I’ve been playing every day and I love that it gets me out and about while exploring the wizarding world!

If you want to play, you can download it from the Apple App Store or Google Play.

Harry Potter Homewares

There are loads of different ways to bring the wizarding world in to your home, whether it’s through soft furnishings like cushions (OMG Hairy Pawter!) or even bringing the potions class to your kitchen. As you know, I’ve been on the hunt for a new drink bottle to help me drink more water – I love the idea of this aguamenti one for reminding me to keep drinking throughout the day!

Fantastic Fashion and Where To Find It

I’m not usually one to wear my fandom on my sleeve, but when it comes to the wizarding world, I happily will. Whether it’s a subtle lightening bolt detail or the Hogwarts school crest, my house colours or just something a little magical, I am so here for all forms of Harry Potter fashion.

Sometimes it’s all about subtle details. A little bit of embroidery or some fine jewellery is a great way of incorporating a bit of magic into your everyday outfit. Side note, I have had these lightning bolt earrings for a couple of years now and I love them. So beautifully made and the perfect size! They’re not strictly Harry Potter inspired but sometimes it’s about making the little details work for you.

It all started with some books. I know there are a few people who loved the films but have never read the books, or maybe don’t have the complete collection at home. For some reason we only have the first four, but I’d love to have all of them. There are some really cool box sets out there, so it’s just a matter of finding the one you like the most – I’d love to see a set with luxe covers like this copy of the Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them screenplay.

Let me know what Hogwarts House you’re in!
I’m a Ravenclaw for sure

Oh really? Their stuff is cool but I looked at their site and can only see their Crazy Museum and Dark Queen Urban Witch collections, nothing Harry Potter inspired :/ Maybe it’s an older collection?

You need to come to Florida to enjoy the Harry Potter experience at Universal! You’ll find lots of fellow Potterheads there all decked out in their fan clothing & paraphernalia. You’ll have an amazing time, and get to do some great plus size shopping to boot!

One day! Unfortunately a lot of money and miles stand between me and Universal at the moment 😓
