I’ve had some interesting New Year’s Eve adventures. There was that time we went to Waiheke, put a kayak in someone’s tent while they were sleeping and pretended to paddle it. The parties down at the Mount. When Andrew’s car broke down and my dad had to pick us up. Dancing under the stars out at The Land. The time we all went to Great Barrier Island and had the camping nightmare from hell. Sleeping on the beach so we could catch the early morning surf. Cutting the power at the millennium party when everyone was freaking out about the Y2K bug. Sitting around the fire on the beach with my nearest and dearest…
This New Year’s Eve was a different kind of adventure. My family and I went swimming, just the three of us. We cooked a delicious feast on the BBQ. We watched movies and took silly selfies. We played games (including a pre and post midnight board game battle to find the ultimate Trouble champion). It was next level laid back and it was awesome.
And the best part? Pyjamas. What better New Year’s Eve outfit than pyjamas? Sure, dressing up is fun but you can’t beat snuggling up in your jammies! I pair a tank with pyjama bottoms in summer and switch out the tank for a long sleeved tee when it gets cooler. I’m loving these ones from Yours Clothing at the moment because they’re light and loose fitting – perfect for the hot, sticky summer weather.
How did you spend New Year’s Eve?

Going into town nowadays is way too expense and getting dangerous too. Having friends over or going to a friends place is much better – cheaper, more relaxing and the food is generally a lot better!!
You’re so right – going to town is so pricey if you factor in drinks, food and transport, yikes!
I went to a party at my friend’s house, and it was really fun! I wore a kmart maxi dress (the same one I tagged you in my post on Christmas day) and a pair of sparkly jandals. Laid back but I still felt pretty!
I love parties at friend’s houses – all the enjoyment of seeing my friends but not as stressful as going to something in town
