My favourite time of year is fast approaching and while I was looking for some Halloween nail art ideas I found a whole bunch of great ones that I wanted to share with you. I have included links to tutorials for most of them so if you’re wanting to recreate them at home, you can! Warning – one of them is pretty gross (but spectacularly done). If it’s not your thing, scroll down a bit for some slightly less disturbing nails…
I am a child of the 80’s, so My Little Pony is totally my jam! I love this take on MLP for Halloween by Jessie from Nailed It NZ – not too spooky. Check out her tutorial here.
Another one from Nailed It NZ that’s not too spooky are these witch hats. If you’re finding yourself loving a lot of different designs you could always do a different one on each nail – just keep the background the same colour to tie the looks together.
You could use any colour combination for these splatter nails, but I do love the traditional Halloween colours of orange and black. These are super easy to do – check out this tutorial by Chalkboard Nails.
I’m sitting here tonight watching Halloween and and think these nails are perfect for a spooky Halloween night. If you’re thinking of dressing as Michael Myers, this would be a pretty rad way of finishing your outfit. You could also do the splatter nails on your full hand, reminiscent of Dexter… Find the tutorial for these on Polishpedia.
I spied these marbled nails by Hello Tanya on her instagram recently and fell in love! These are so perfectly witchy and a little something different to the black witch claws you might expect. Hello Tanya is based in Auckland, New Zealand so if you love her style you can book in with her here.
Possibly one of the coolest things I’ve found for Halloween nails is glow in the dark polish – I actually didn’t know that even existed! Samantha from Tekhé – To Beautify, a mobile nail artist in Hamilton/Cambridge NZ did these ones, I really love the cat silhouette #crazycatladyforlife
I think these ghost nails by Nailed It NZ would be pretty cool with glow in the dark polish as well. I love their expressions – you can make them as spooky or as friendly as you want! Here’s the easy to follow tutorial.
Show me your teeth! I am loving these fangs – would you do them as a set or a feature nail? Either one would be pretty cool…
I love these nails because you’ve got a couple of choices with this design. You can either have all skulls or go the whole hog and have the matching bodies! Which would you choose? Here’s the tutorial if you want to give the skeleton nail art a try.
I love all things Disney and as soon as I saw these Maleficent inspired nails by TLC Nails it made me want to have a bit of a Disney marathon. I can totally imagine wearing these with an amazing evil queen costume, what do you reckon?
I’m pretty sure these nails are the grossest I’ve ever seen. It actually makes me feel a little ill just looking at them! Nailed It NZ did a bloody good job (get it? Hehe) of these. If you want to try these gross zombie nails (or just want to see how she did them), check out the tutorial here.
And now for something a little less creepy. I had these black cats on my nails last year, aren’t they cute? You can pick any colour you like for the background, either match them to your outfit or choose your favourite bright colour! Here’s the tutorial if you want to give them a go.
I’m pretty sure I won’t be the only one to fall in love with these ouija board nails by Sarah aka Get Buffed from Victoria, Australia. I’ve been to a nail art class that Sarah taught and I have to say that this woman’s talent knows no bounds – follow her on instagram for some more amazing nail inspo.
If you try any of these out, make sure you tag me in on instagram (I’m @thisismeagankerr) or share your photos on my Facebook page!
Which nail art do you want on your nails this Halloween?
I love all things dark and spooky so these are just so ME! Love them all and look forward to seeing your Halloween nail art too. My nails are too short for nail art unfortunately
I think some of these could totally be adapted to short nails! Especially the ones that aren’t super detailed like the splatter nails 🙂 I’ve shared my Halloween nails over on my instagram, you should go check them out!
Okay, I love doing my nails and am going to have to work on some halloween designs, but that one from Nailed it are gruesome *shivers! They have done an amazing job, but i feel queezy just looking at them
Aren’t they spectacular(ly revolting)? So impressive, but I agree, they make me feel yucky as well.
I know! That just means it’s a job well done because they just look so real… and gross! Makes me all squeemish thinking about it.
