I’ve been in Rotorua over the last week for the Crankworx mountain biking festival, and decided to channel my inner mountain bike babe in skinny jeans, flannel checks and a flat cap. It’s a style that’s a little bit different from my usual girly look, but it really got me in the mood for wearing more checks this autumn and winter. And more flannel. And a cap. Oh dear, what’s happening to me?
Checks are pretty much guaranteed to be on trend every autumn and winter, and popping a flannel shirt over your staples (skinny jeans or jeggings and a tank) is an easy way to expand your style. If you want a look that’s more lady than lumberjack, find a checked shirt that is tailored for curves or in a longer length so that it can be worn in a more kimono style – like this one from Missguided. I’m still on the hunt for the perfect one that works with my large bust, but in the meantime I’ve swiped my boyfriend’s shirt. And his hat. Sorry about that babe…
Keep an eye on the blog for more about my Rotorua trip next week. In the meantime, I want to know how would you describe your style in five words or less?

Your flannel fashion inspires me
Gorgeous photos! I hope you’ve enjoyed the week.
Me: girly classic with 1950’s twist.
Sometimes girly but mostly tomboy-ish.
Love flannels!
Comfy mummy pants!
That sounds amazing. I’m just about to pop on a dress to drive back to Auckland and would give anything for comfy mummy pants right now!
