One of the reasons I started my blog was so that I could carve out my very own self-indulgent space on the internet. A place to talk about plus size clothes (rather than the pieces that stopped at a size 16 that I’d previously written about on other sites). A spot where I could be honest and open about my life as a fat woman. Where I could connect with other rad humans about the things that were going on in my life, or were important to me.
I feel like I’m a bit rusty when it comes to writing here on my blog. I haven’t been posting here all that regularly thanks to my anxiety, which has been kicking my butt extra hard for the last year or so. Now that I’m finally starting to get that under control (more about that later) and I want to start writing again, the words aren’t flowing as easily as they used to. Maybe I just need to find my groove again?
I think that I feel a lot of pressure to write lots and lots of things in my blog posts, I don’t know why. Sometimes I just want to share a few photos of a cute outfit with some quick thoughts, but I end up posting regularly on Instagram and not so much on my blog. You know what though? While I do love Instagram, it seems to be getting a lot like Facebook – the people following me don’t always see my posts and I’m constantly prompted to spend money I don’t have to reach more people. I’m sure you would have heard this from other people you follow online, it’s a struggle for everyone! So consider this your reminder that if you do like what we post, and you want to see more, make sure you like and comment on our posts!
As for my check in, it’s been a quiet few months for me. I’ve been working on my anxiety and trying to find balance in my life. I’m not very good at relaxing, and I find it really difficult to not work in my downtime (is that a surprise to anyone? Probably not). This, coupled with the cooler weather and shorter days, means I’ve been watching a whole lot of Netflix lately.
One of my recent faves, Chilling Tales of Sabrina, has reminded me of how much I get inspired by tv and movies when it comes to fashion. Ever since I watched that I’ve been planning this outfit in my head, and it reminds me a bit of something I would have worn as a teenager too. Guess my style hasn’t changed all that much in the last 20 years!
I’m determined to have fun with fashion again, and enjoy writing. This post ended up being a bit longer than I expected, hopefully it will start to get easier to write if I do it more often.
What inspires your fashion choices?
