All you need is love … and brunch

All you need is love and brunch

I’m just going to come right out and say it – I am not a huge fan of Valentine’s Day. I celebrate the love I have for my partner, my friends and my family more than just one day a year, and I really don’t think that it needs to be commercialised with a push to spend big money on diamonds, flowers and chocolates (not that I’m opposed to any of those things!). That being said, I like that there is a reminder to celebrate love – not just your love for others, but also for yourself.

Instead of (or in addition to, if that’s your jam) celebrating Valentine’s Day with chocolate and expensive gifts, do things a little bit differently. Here are a few of my suggestions on great ways to celebrate love (any day of the year). View Post

The importance of self confidence

self worth is so vital to your happiness if you dont feel good about you its hard to feel good about anything else

Self confidence is a pretty important thing – if you don’t have a good self image then it can impact so many areas of your life. I’m not just talking about whether or not you like your body, I’m talking about how you feel about you. Your whole self.

Who wears short shorts?

Plus Size Activewear - Meagan Kerr wears Hope and Harvest Anchor Tee

I wear short shorts! I wear them at home when it’s crazy hot (which at the moment is all the damn time), I wear them when I do yoga, and I wear them for physio sessions. You might be thinking, “Now hang on a minute, I read Meagan’s blog all the time, and I’ve never seen her in shorts.” And you’d be right – because I have always felt weird about wearing shorts in public.

I know this isn’t particularly logical, especially given how comfortable I feel wearing swimsuits and sharing photos of myself in my underwear, but it’s something that’s been with me ever since I was at school. View Post

These shoes are made for walking

I decided that it was time to treat myself to a new pair of walking shoes. The last pair of exercise shoes I bought were great (and I paid less than $10 for them), but they didn’t give me the support I needed so they have been relegated to my gardening shoes. I asked around and had Nike shoes recommended to me by a few friends, so yesterday I popped into Nike Platinum St Lukes.

Almost every other time I’ve walked into a sportswear store I’ve either been ignored or treated very rudely. I’m not take seriously because I’m fat (actual comment overheard, “Who is she kidding? Must be lost”) or because I’m female (just the other day I walked into an outdoors store to buy a new backpack. The two salespeople avoided eye contact and ignored me, instead going straight to assist my partner … who was not there to buy anything. Needless to say they didn’t get my money!). I’m sure you won’t be surprised when I tell you that I was a little bit nervous when I headed into the Nike store! View Post

Wanderlust

Wanderlust: a strong desire or impulse to travel

Genie from Bunny Eats Design asked if I want to indulge in a bit of wanderlust and answer a few travel questions. I’ve been getting itchy feet lately and am really looking forward to travelling again, so now is the perfect time to start thinking about travel. It’s been about eight years since I last travelled overseas, and I feel like I’m missing out. I did quite a lot of travelling when I was young, but not as an adult, so I have lots of great memories but very few photographs. Perhaps this is a sign that it’s time to travel again? View Post
