Floating Away: I Try Float Therapy

The floatation pod at White Spa

I’ve been wanting to go in a float tank since I was young but never got the chance until recently. I had a lot of questions before I went that made me hesitant to book an appointment. How does float therapy work? Do I need a bathing suit? Will I have to wear a robe that doesn’t fit me? Will I be too fat for the float tank? Basically all of the questions. View Post

My Active Body

New Zealand plus size blogger Meagan Kerr wears Sonsee Power Long Sleeve Tee and Rainbeau Curves Veronica Print Capris

When I look at the models in activewear ads, I never see bodies like mine. The fat, lumpy bodies with rolls and big thighs and tummies. My body is the kind of body that’s shown as a “before picture”, not as one that is active. Sometimes people with bodies like mine are photographed and made fun of, as I shared on my Facebook page recently, and quite a few people told me that things like this make them feel uncomfortable going to the gym or exercising in public. I don’t give a shit if you’re fat or thin, have wobbly bits or washboard abs, I think that everyone should have the right to exercise if they want to. View Post

Women who inspire me

Women who inspire me: Grace Victory, Natalie Hage and Marie Denee. International Women's Day 2017

Today is International Women’s Day and I wanted to share some of the amazing wahine toa who really inspire me. I feel really lucky to work in an industry with so many talented, creative, fiercely unapologetic women, and today I want to celebrate some of those women and share them with you in the hopes that you might find them as inspiring and powerful as I have. Nike has launched a plus size range

One of the things people ask me about most often is activewear, so I’m forever on the lookout for new activewear options to share with you. Naturally, I was very excited to find out that Nike has expanded their range to include more plus sizes. I have been a fan of Nike shoes for a long time (I currently have two pairs on the go) and have straight size friends that swear by the quality of their Nike training gear, so to finally be able to get that quality gear in plus sizes is pretty exciting. How it all began

Starting over: the decision that changed my life and how my blog got started

I get a lot of people asking me how I got started in blogging, and since my blog turns five this year (has it really been that long?) I thought I’d share a little bit of my back story about how This is Meagan Kerr came about.

In 2010 I was working full time as an administrator for a non-profit, and in the weekends and after hours I was working as a photographer. I shot portraits, some really fun creative fashion and beauty editorials, and even the occasional wedding. I’m the kind of person who always wants to know more, to be better at what I do and to push myself further, View Post
