My first ever experience with body shaming was when I was wearing a swimsuit, so it probably comes as no surprise that I spent a lot of time agonising over wearing one as a teenager and in my 20’s. I remember going to the beach in board shorts and a baggy t-shirt, with my one piece underneath, feeling very self-concious – a far cry from the cocky, confident person I was on the swim team a couple of years beforehand. Things have changed a lot over the last few years, and now I feel completely at home in a bikini. I get a lot of people saying that they wish they felt so confident in a swimsuit, so I thought I’d share a few of my tips on how to be body confident at the beach (or where ever it is that you’re swimming!). On the road again
I love a good summer roadtrip, especially when the destination is my partner’s home town of Taupo. We load up the car with all of our stuff, crank up the music and I annoy the child with my singing. There’s no need to dress all fancy for a roadie, casual and comfortable is where it’s at. View Post
New Year’s Eve
I’ve had some interesting New Year’s Eve adventures. There was that time we went to Waiheke, put a kayak in someone’s tent while they were sleeping and pretended to paddle it. The parties down at the Mount. When Andrew’s car broke down and my dad had to pick us up. Dancing under the stars out at The Land. The time we all went to Great Barrier Island and had the camping nightmare from hell. View Post
Stripes and animal print
Is there anything that sums up my style more than 17 Sundays, stripes and monochrome? This tee was absolutely made for me, so when it showed up in a parcel of goodies from 17 Sundays recently, I was smitten! I’ve been wearing it a lot with black shorts, but couldn’t resist pairing these stripes with my animal print pants for a bit of a pattern clash. View Post
Why you should invest in your wardrobe
Brought to you by Zebrano
Since spring cleaning my closet this year, I have tried to be more conscious of the things I’m adding in. Rather than spending small amounts of money often on things that will wear out quickly or will only last a season, I’m choosing things that will last a long time. Sometimes these things will cost a little bit more, and I need to save up for them – but trust me, the decision to invest in your wardrobe is one worth making. View Post
