I had to do a spot of research for “Hipster” week, and I guess I loosely fit this definition already: I wear black rimmed glasses, I prefer to listen to my music on vinyl, my hair is undeniably casual, I use a Polaroid and other old film cameras, I have an arts degree and am a prolific user of Instagram…
WIWT: Black Lace
Some days a girl just wants to rock the black on black on black lace…
I’m all for the layering of blacks in an outfit (maybe that’s my secret Goth side coming out?), but I think it’s important to bring in different textures and accessories so that you don’t just disappear in a shadow of darkness…
This is WFW 2014: The Carpenters Daughter
My sole reason for heading down to Wellington was to attend The Carpenters Daughter’s runway show at Wellington Fashion Week. To some of you this might not be a big deal, you might just be thinking “so Meagan went to another fashion show, whatevs”, but for me it really was more than just another fashion show.
We don’t see plus sized bodies on the catwalk in New Zealand. Like, I’ve never seen a woman over a size 16 on a catwalk here, and I’ve been to a lot of fashion events in my time. We just don’t get shows dedicated to plus size bodies. When I go to events for department stores that stock plus sizes, they often won’t show the plus size lines, or will only show a very very small selection, so to attend an entire show celebrating fashion for curvy babes actually blew my mind. Aussie Curves: Bodycon
When I started my Fat Girls Shouldn’t Wear Stripes project, bodycon was very high on the list of what fat girls supposedly should not wear. I know, even as I post this, that there will be more than one ignorant twit out there thinking (or saying) something along the lines of “oh hell no, fat girls should not be wearing form fitting clothing”. Well guess what? When I get up in the morning, I don’t dress for you. I dress for myself, in clothes that make me feel great!
Wellington Fashion Week 2014
Last weekend I travelled down to Wellington (our country’s capital) for Wellington Fashion Week. I had an amazing journey and I wanted to share it with you… I took a lot of pictures so get comfortable!
I used to travel to Wellington all the time on business, but it’s been a long time since I had the pleasure of visiting. It’s been five years, and it turns out that my love for this city has not waned one bit.
