Back to basics

Plus size clothing basics - River Island Plus white scoop neck tee from River Island, Warpaint Joggers from 17 Sundays; Kate Madison Khaki Jacket from The Warehouse

As you might have noticed, I haven’t been sharing very many outfit photos lately. I mentioned that I’d lost my mojo and have been struggling with feeling confident in front of the camera since I had my hair cut, and while I’ve been recovering from surgery, and this is the first outfit post I’m posting on my blog in more than a month.  I might have been quiet lately, but I’m back with a fresh head of colour and I’m going back to basics. Time to find my mojo again. View Post

Winter pyjamas to snuggle up in

Winter 2017 Plus Size Pyjamas

If you follow me on Facebook you’ll know that I’m planning a room revamp at the moment (don’t worry, I’ll be sharing the results here so you can check it out!). It’s all planned around my bed, so naturally I’ve been looking at pyjamas and thinking about snuggling up. I’ve picked out a few of my fave pairs and thought I’d share them with you in case you’re keen to get cosy too. View Post

Sculptured

One thing I’ve noticed in the world of plus size fashion, is how often we use terms like flattering to describe clothes that create the illusion of you being smaller, more hourglass shaped (which is apparently the ideal body shape) or that hide supposed “flaws”. Quite often, people tell me that things I wear are not flattering because they accentuate my wide hips or they are fitted to my body or, in complete contradiction, are not fitted to my body. Hide yourself in fabric, but not too much or you’ll look fat. View Post

Black on Black

Plus size women rocking black on black outfits

As you well know, I am a big fan of all black everything. Give me layers upon layers of black on black, add a smidge more black and you’ve just about nailed it. Different fabrics, textures and details are part of what takes an all black outfit to the next level, and I’ve found some babes rocking black on black to help inspire you. View Post

Athleisure

Plus size athleisure - New Zealand blogger Meagan Kerr wears Kate Madison pullover, Rainbeau Curves Premier Basix Leggings and Ecco Cool 2.0 Shoes

I’ve always struggled with casual outfits, because I believed for so I long that as a fat woman I had to put more effort into my appearance than smaller women do, and I thought that casual was too casual so I ended up way overdressed a lot of the time. When a thin woman wears sweatpants and has her hair in a messy bun, she’s cute and relaxed. When a fat woman does the same she is seen as lazy and like she doesn’t care about her appearance. I know right, what the heck? View Post
