“The next logical step is fat acceptance in fashion. Plus sizes in New Zealand Fashion Week, mainstream magazines and clothing labels would be a sign that New Zealand really has made it. This would then lead to all over acceptance of fat people as being people and stop discriminaton in the workplace, gym, beach, and everywhere! A girl can dream…”
I would love to see plus size models at NZFW, as well as designers showing plus size ranges. We have some great high fashion brands that do plus size ranges in New Zealand, like High Society‘s Chocolat and Obi and The Carpenter’s Daughter. Maybe we could have our own Full Figured Fashion Week for the Southern hemisphere? I’d love to see Australian designers 17 Sundays, Harlow and Hope & Harvest there, to name a few faves.
It’s not such a revelation, is it, that fat people want to wear nice clothes? I didn’t think so. I guess I’ll have to start saving my pennies to make it over to the USA for Full Figured Fashion Week, and to Australia to visit our “local” designers. It might be a long road, but I am going to make this happen!
Who is your favourite NZ or Australian plus size designer? I’m going to start making up a list of people to pay a visit to! #letsdothis
