A biker style jacket is the ideal piece to throw on over the top of almost any outfit. Effortlessly cool, this wardrobe staple is now widely available in plus size and come in a range of different fits. The one I’m wearing is from Taking Shape – but it’s not your traditional biker jacket. Instead it is made from a soft stretch fabric and is designed to be worn open. It takes the elements I love about biker style jackets (the zips, the studs, the shape of the collar) and makes them lightweight and easy to wear. The fabric is lighter and less bulky, which makes it comfortable to wear while the weather is still mild.

CLASSIC BLACK BIKER JACKET
You can’t beat a classic, right? All of these are a very classic style and available in black, but some do have other colour options. These are all faux leather jackets or vegan leather. These used to be quite hard to find but now they’re much more readily available.
Sara PU Jacket, $169.99 from EziBuy and ONLY CARMAKOMA Hope PU Biker Jacket, AUD $129.95 from The Iconic
As you can see these two are pretty similar in overall design, but there are a few different design elements. Along with finding the perfect fit for your body, make sure you pick something that fits with your style – that way you’re likely to wear it more often.
ONLY CARMAKOMA Faux Leather Biker Jacket, $129.99 from Farmers and Lost Ink Plus PU Jacket with Buckles, AUD $119.95 from The Iconic
Zip Biker Jacket, $169.99 from City Chic and DP Curve Casual Jacket, AUD $74.95 from The Iconic
Some styles are more cropped, while others are longer in the body. Go for the style that’s the more comfortable fit for your body. If you’re large busted like me, you might find that the cropped styles don’t work for you when they’re done up. As always this all depends on preference – it’s totally fine to get a cropped style and not do it up if that’s the look you’re after (I almost never do my jackets up!).
Black PU Leather Jacket, £55.99 from Yours Clothing and Missguided Curve Ultimate PU Biker Jacket, AUD $79.95 from The Iconic
Faux Leather Biker Jacket, USD $86.99 from Simply Be and Black Faux Leather Quilted Jacket, £55.99 from Yours Clothing
SUAVE IN SUEDE + OTHER FABRICS
Biker jackets don’t just have to have that traditional leather look – there are other fabrics out there that look super cool. Faux suede is definitely having a moment right now, and other options like knit can offer more stretch (great if you need it in the arms like I do).
Sueded Biker Jacket, $169.99 from City Chic and Zizzi Faux Suede Biker Jacket, AUD $147.00 from Navabi
Suedette Biker, $74.99 from Simply Be and PLT Plus Orange Faux Suede Biker Jacket, AUD $68.00 from Pretty Little Thing
Boohoo Plus Teddy Faux Fur Biker Jacket, AUD $113.00 from Boohoo and Snap Short Jacket, AUD $199.95 from Taking Shape
Light Grey Knit Zip Moto Jacket, USD $78.90 from Torrid and Finding Out Knit Jacket, $101.00 from ModCloth
COLOUR YOUR WORLD
As you’ve already see with a few of the previous options I’ve shared, it’s not all basic black. From neutrals to bright colours, there are loads of choices out there (and quite a few of the biker jackets I’ve mentioned in this post come in multiple colour options).
Cropped Biker Jacket, $169.99 from City Chic and Whip Stitch Biker, $169.99 from City Chic
Jack by BB Dakota What Motors Most Jacket, $124.00 from ModCloth and Joanna Hope Side Tie PU Jacket, USD $99.99 from Simply Be
As you can see here there are lots of different ways to style your biker jacket. As well as your classic jeans and tee, you can pair it with flowy dresses or more fitted looks. Adding a jumper underneath is winter is also great for that extra layer of warmth.
