This isn’t secondhand so much as it is “swiped out of my boyfriend’s closet”. I think it’s totally fair, since he’s raided all my band tees…
This isn’t a t-shirt style I’d usually wear, because I don’t like high necked tops – I hate things up by my throat and I think that this makes my super large bust look boxy. I’d much prefer to balance things out with a v-neck or a lower scoop-neck that flatters my boobs. However, my boyfriend’s closet isn’t exactly filled with things designed for my figure…
So, I was eyeing up the boyfriend’s shirts, and spied this one that he picked up while he was at the Sisters of Mercy concert in 2012. I was inspired by this post from Jo at iCurvy (she’s a fab Australian blogger – go pay her a visit!), to pair my favourite feminine skirt with a tee – definitely not something I’d have thought to try!
This trick is to choose the right tee, I think – if you’re wearing your skirt high-waisted, you don’t want your print to go too low or it will disappear under the band of your skirt!
I would love to know what style of tee you like best – do you prefer something high necked like this or are you more of a v-neck girl like me? Or maybe a scoop neck? Or maybe you don’t like t-shirts at all? Let me know below!

I feel totally the same way about high necked shirts! I’m slowly coming round to them… Basically all my old band t-shirts are mens style, a size too big, with the neckline and sleeves cut out. Haha. You look really adorably in this outfit. And I agree with the above – your hair is SENSATIONAL! <3
I have hair envy… your locks are just divine!!!!
Why thank you *tosses mermaid mane*
Love this look Meagan, totally raiding my husbands stash of tees… He never wears them so sharing is caring
I like the way you think, lady! 😉
I’m the same with tees, I don’t like anything too high up my neck, it doesn’t have to be a scoop or V, but the standard tshirt line (crew neck I think?) isn’t for me.
I quite like this look though, the skirt makes it much more feminine 🙂
Your hair is looking super mermaid-ish too!
I’m teh same with tees, I hate things coming up high on my neck, so I usually hack at mine with scissors. I think this looks great though and if my bf wasn’t such a skinny minny I know I’d steal a couple of his to try this look myself!
Gorgeous, I love your smile 🙂 Funnily enough, I wore a very similar outfit a couple of times this week, I have a similar skirt in black jersey fabric from Jacqui E (last summer). And wore it with a navy asos boyfriend tee.
The asos tees are amazing. I feel like I spent my whole life looking for t-shirts that fit and moved with my body properly. All I had were boxy, or otherwise weird shaped shirts from farmers or postie plus. BTW, Asos are doing twin packs of their awesome tees now too (bought!) http://www.asos.com/ASOS-Curve/ASOS-CURVE-2-Pack-Boyfriend-T-Shirt/Prod/pgeproduct.aspx?iid=3900722&cid=9577&sh=0&pge=1&pgesize=36&sort=-1&clr=Navy%2fwhite

this looks cute on you! I like scooped or v necks. I have a few mens tees from Threadless but I mostly wear them as pajamas, I have meaning to cut one of them up a bit mens tops are so boxy but the only style of tee shirt that fits me.
Same here – I’d cut mine up if Douglas hadn’t swiped all my band tees! Now I can’t, because he likes to wear them. Not like I have any shortage of clothing, if we’re being honest…
I love it, the black really brings out what a lovely color your hair is, and yes, printed tees, bands or otherwise, are awesome.
