Remembering how I struggled to find something to wear the last time we did Boho for Aussie Curves, I decided to raid my Mom’s wardrobe while I was in Whangarei this week…
And wow, look what I found! This gorgeous satin peacock print kaftan! It’s a little piece of vintage goodness that my Mom was given by a friend, isn’t it amazing?
It’s definitely not the kind of thing I’d wear regularly, because the material is really hot to wear. I do love the colours and the print though, so if I could have it in a lighter cotton I’d be all over this as a beach cover up or for lounging about the house!
Personally I am more of a fan of fitted clothing than loose clothing. This is because I spent so long hiding under shapeless garments, that I just don’t want to wear them anymore. I love showing off my shape and my curves, so if I was wearing something like this (which is basically a long strip of material folded in half and sewn down the sides, with a neck hole cut out) I would definitely wear it belted! A sash made from the same material would be gorgeous…
Is anyone out there a kaftan fan? I’d love to hear how you wear yours!

Super cute, I agree that it would look amazing if it had a matching sash. The print is gorgeous still.
Ooooh, what a gorgeous caftan! I love the colors, and they go so well with your coloring and your hair. 😀
Thanks Laura! xo
Ok what a freaking gorgeous Kaftan, maybe it should accidently get lost from Mum’s closet 😉 The teal colour is beautiful on you too!
Haha Katie, I’ve already nicked it! It shall be worn for lounging 😉
Love the urban twist with the converse — fantastic contrast to the feminism whimsy of the katfan.
Awesome vintage kaftan Meagan, as you know I’m a huge fan of the kaftan 🙂
Sometimes a simple garment with great colour and print can be just as beautiful as an item that is structured. Let the beautiful women inside do the talking 😉
Looks like a mu-mu or horrible table cloth with a cut for the head? Sorry.
I feel like perhaps you might not know what a muumuu looks like, because it’s way more structured than this! As I mentioned in my post, this kaftan is basically a long strip of material folded in half and sewn down the sides, with a neck hole cut out – not at all structured.
Also, would effing love to have a table cloth with a print this cool. Or a kimono.
Wow that is a beautiful garment. Would love something like this in my wardrobe.
