An anchor for the soul

There is an anchor that ties me to the ocean. I grew up in seaside towns and always gravitate back to the sea when I need to revive my soul. In Auckland we are lucky to have a lot of beaches and some great waterfront areas, which makes it easy to recharge. Today I went along to one of my favourite spots in Auckland, which has a great view of the city, to enjoy the peace of the harbour and grab a couple of photos of my nautical inspired outfit.

I based my outfit around these sneakers, which are from the Taylor Swift for Keds range. They’re super cute and combine my favourite stripes with a bit of anchor detailing. As you know I only ever wear flats, so these were a perfect choice for me. They come with two different choices of laces – these rounded tan ones and a classic cream flat lace I wore them with the round laces today but I prefer flat laces so I think I’ll switch them out.

I really like the Taylor Swift for Keds range, there are a whole bunch of super cute designs including this sneaky cat one and these grey hearts. I think I’m going to have to get a few more pairs of Keds, because flats like this are pretty much my life. The only problem is which pair to get first!

After spending some time sitting on the stairs down to the sea, my soul (and soles!) are well and truly anchored. It’s not quite the same as burying my feet in the sand or swimming in the ocean, but it gives me that sense of home nonetheless.
