It’s holiday season and I’m super excited to share some treats from some of my favourite brands with you to celebrate. If you’ve been a blog follower for a while, you’ll know that I’ve been using Dermalogica skincare for a long time – after many years of trying different things on my skin I found something that works for me so I’m sticking with it!
Skincare is part of my essential self care, and it’s more than just washing my face in the morning and slathering on some moisturiser every now and then. Stopping to take care of myself and look after my skin in the morning and and night is an important ritual for me, and if I’m skipping it because I’m tired or can’t be bothered or am too busy, those are all warning signs for me that something else in my life is out of whack. I’ve also learned to pay attention to what my skin is telling me. If it’s drier than normal, I need more water. If I’m getting breakouts, I’m either due for my period or I’ve been eating something that I’d be better off without (oh the joys of food intolerances). Our skin is pretty clever!
Summer is when my skin feels the effects of my lifestyle the most – I’m out in the sea, in the sun, in the wind; I’m having late nights and getting less sleep; I’m in a different environment (the difference in humidity and climate between Whangarei, Auckland and Taupo is massive) and sometimes I’m eating different food to what I’d normally eat. This is when I like to give my skin a bit of extra TLC, because let’s be honest – at this time of year when there are end of year parties, or you’re a tired parent or you just need a break after a hectic year (or all of the above!), you kinda feel like your skin needs a pick me up! I had a Dermalogica facial a couple of weeks ago and I’ll make sure I have another in the new year (I’d love to have them monthly, but that’s not in the budget just yet), and in between I will be making sure my skin is nourished and hydrated.
To help you out with some TLC for your skin, I’ve got some Dermalogica goodies to give away to two of my lucky readers, plus they’ll get a set for a friend as well (perfect for a pampering night). YAY! Up for grabs is a Multivitamin Power Recovery Masque and a Phyto Replenish Oil – a great combo to help revitalise and nourish your skin (each set is valued at $233). Let me know in the comments.
I get quite bad Seborrhoeic dermatitis in summer so I really need to keep on top of my skincare regime!
Seborrhoeic dermatitis and skin sensitive to heat.
My big skin concern is oiliness and acne. I have problems with it year round, but I find that in the summer is the worst, the heat makes me even oilier than normal and causes acne flare ups.
My skin is very spotty after my hysterectomy last week and I’m sure not being able to be outside in the sun isn’t helping.

Adult breakouts.
I have seborrheic dermatitis on my face, that’s pretty concerning! I sway from super oily to flaking.
With 4 children at home my skin care is often just a quick wash in the shower, it would be lovely to have something that would help keep me looking youthful and cared for
My biggest summer skin concern is all the damage caused from our harsh NZ sun! Sunburn, dryness, wrinkles, sunspots and more!
I always have rosacea, so redness and burning up is a big concern for me. 🙂 Yes please.

Damaging my skin in this very hot summer weather we are having, so I’ll be religiously moisturising and sunblocking on a regular base.
Sun damage for sure.

Oily skin, especially in summer
Definitely sun damage even though I have worn sun screen religiously for as long as I can remember.
I am becoming more aware of my skin’s age and making more effort to use sunscreen everyday, not just when I know I will be out and about
pimples and their scars
This time of year is really stressful at work for me, so I find I get stress breakouts, would be great to try and clear this!
Definitely sun damage!!! In the last year I’ve realised the importance of sunscreen everyday!
Blackheads and congestion are my concerns
I’ve just entered the dermalogica skincare world and am loving it! My skin is super sensitive and oily and I love this stuff!
Dry skin!!! Since having my baby 3 months ago have struggled with dry skin.
me and my skin are not friends at the moment this would def give my skin a boost it needs
Finding something suitable for my oily skin is my biggest problem
My biggest concern has to be dryness, especially around my eyes. I notice it when I go to apply foundation.
Biggest skin concern definitely is dryness.
Lack of moisture in my skin!
Sweaty oily skin vibes in summer are my skin pet peeve, it is the WORST
Skin treats, oh yes please! I get breakouts often and also want to prevent too many wrinkles.
My biggest summer skin concern is Dehydration!
My skin drying out, I am getting more and more fine wrinkles so concerned about moisture all the time.

My skin gets really oily in summer and I’m more prone to breakouts. Sounds great
I love dermalogica products and my skin does too! My biggest concern is finding a sunscreen that’s not heavy and gluggy
This would be amazing. I find my skin gets so oily in summer and blocked with all the sunscreen.
Starting hydrated enough this summer.
I am not a fan of summer, I burn super easily and I really struggle to find sunblock for my oily skin that doesn’t make me break out.
This skin care pack would be a godsend and I would share with my equally oily and pale mum!
I’ve only recently had a kidney transplant and the anti-rejection medications I’m on make me very sensitive to skin damage and skin cancers. I’m definitely super conscious of protecting myself!
My summer skin is my best skin- I look after myself better in the warmer weather, and eat better, my acne clears up and I get a little colour but I need to take care of it with spf moisturisers and sunscreen because I love to be outdoors and can often be remiss in reapplying and staying vigilant about sun safety!
Sunburn is my big concern through summer- not just for me but the kids too!
Oily skin in the heat.
Dry skin is my biggest concern and remembering to moisturise, moisturise and moisturise im not very good at kerping it up!!!
Fell in love with Dermalogica thanks to their Special Clearing Booster! Would love to try more of their range!
I’m greasy and burn easy
Sunburn and dry skin
Aging has become a little bit of a concern for me
My biggest summer skin concern is sunburn – I very rearely spend long periods in the sun and I burn very easily, so I’m mindful to wear sunscreen, I wear sunscreen on my face every day all through the year also.
I think dry flakey skin, particularly around my nose and lips would be my next concern.
Definitely sunburn for me, and probably drier than normal skin from air conditioning inside!
My biggest concern is that my skin will get really dry
My biggest concern is uneven skin tone,it’s driving me nuts 😣
My biggest concern is the fact I break out when I get all hot and sweaty!
This would be an amazing prize to share with my friend Nessa! I love these products but they are generally a bit too pricey for me.
Making sure I don’t get sunburnt
My biggest summer concern is getting sunburnt and all the things that follow because time sunburn.
I have some darker skin patches that have appeared recently and i don’t like them ;( they appear in photos etc – so I would really love some skin care to put some zing in my skin .
I get dry skin on to and breakouts on my chin… so frustrating! Dermalogica have amazing products so would be awesome to win.
My skin gets so dry with the amount of swimming I do! Chlorine is a dick. Also I’m super fair and so are my two kids so getting suncreen for sensitive skin with a super high SPF is always a challenge – it’s so expensive!
I have really thin hair and am really bald on top so always wear a hat – it keeps the sun off my face, but doesn’t stop the wind from drying it out (Christchurch nor’westers are insane!) so this would be great.
I have combination skin. Love dermalogica but I can’t always afford it unfortunately. My skin changes in summer to be a bit dryer but staying with the combination skin care settles it.
I’d love to share with my sister who has 3 children but also cares for my other sisters 4 children under 7. So she has loads to deal with..she defiantly needs pampering!!
Omg my biggest summer skin concern is something a bit weird..my SCALP!! i have an extra large head so it’s impossible to find hats that fit, my parting always gets the burn 🙁 plus my face needs super protection to avoid looking like a tomato.. damn you fair skin!!
Remembering to reapply the sun screen on a regular basis, so I don’t get sunburnt and keeping my skin rehydrated so it doesn’t dry out and go flakey.
Eek breakouts due to summer sweat, need to keep it under control with great products!
OMG! Sooooooooooo need! Skin is already being a pain! I try to look after myself. This would be awesome. Yes please!

My biggest concern is sunburn, I have super pale skin and even with sunscreen can burn.
My skin turns to shit over summer from to much wine,to much sun and to much food.I’ll give up the wine and cut back on the sun and food so any extra help would be greatly appreciated!
My biggest concern is my break outs. I look crap after going for a swim
Oohh this would be lovely
Dehydrated skin is a worry as I know I don’t drink enough water. In this heat, I fear it will get worse 🙁
biggest summer skin concern has to be sun burn!!! even tho you would put sunscreen on b4 u go out side it starts to wear off and you get a horrible sunburn that creates those horrible sunburn lines!!!
Make sure you reapply it! So important!
